Ding ding ding! You have said our key word of the day. Please cue the drum roll to listen to everybody and their mother describe the definition of price gouging.

On your mark, get set, BICKER!

Just because some brewery makes a beer doesn't mean we have to buy it, it does seem a portion of beer advocate has become beer addict, or rather rare beer addict. It seems as though a portion of our community is compelled to acquire every rare, hyped, Barrel-aged, hard to get beer.

    Have we become beer coveter's?
Do we have to have everything that are BA brothers have?
Will we ever satisfy the need to obtain everything rare and hard to get?

for me I work extremely hard, and at the end of the day I don't the energy to hunt down all these highly sought after beers. I've never had DL, PtE, PtY, Katmandu, Hoochie Koo, and I do NOT feel deprived. I went to ONE rare beer tasting, and knew then, I could never keep up with it, and I decided to enjoy what I could get, what I could afford. Life is so much easier when you allow yourself to be content with less.

That being said, I am probably (never say never) done with FFF as well, there beers are good, some great, but there are too many reasons not to keep seeking them out. I have a few Breweries that I'm kind of 'done with', no animosity, just moving onto more local or affordable choices.

Content- satisfied with what one is or has; not wanting more or anything else.

Will I support my local brewery...of course. I buy Beer to drink. I share all rare beer with friends. No horrding here. Lifes to short to worry about the b/s. If it sounds/looks good drink it.

    Cheers

I had this on tap at Northdown. Solid beer, but it wasnt worth the $8+ for a 6 oz pour, let alone $35 for 750 ml let alone going apeshit over it

    Technically, different beers.

    Bourbon vs. Rye Whiskey.

With that said, I like their usual Bourbon treatments (Woodford) more than Templeton anything by a good deal.

Regardless, for all intents and purposes, its not worth the price or energy.

They are no longer selling bottles at the pub. Not sure if they ran out or are selling more on another day.

I dont understand why everyone gets so worked up over "expensive" beer prices? First of all, if someone really loves it and can afford it, more power to 'em. Second of all, as many people have mentioned, this isn't going to change, as the customers dictate the prices. If you go to DLD, you'll see endless lines just to wait to get the option to buy beer for as much as $50 a bottle - and this is all really good stuff. "The cult of FFF", as one person said (well put by the way), lives strong - and in my personal opinion, if you take all of the beer at face value it stacks up. FFF does really good stuff that is unique. People love their labels, names, and the beer. And as much as some people will hate this comment, the truth of the matter is that stuff sells. You have to look at FFF as an entire entity and as an "operation", they are doing it right. The fact that they have extremely limited releases only available at the brewpub and a very scarce distribution path dictates the demand and people love that. I cant tell you how many times I have seen Rochefort 10 on the shelves, but I have never bought it. Why? Because I know it will always be available to me. However, if I see anything FFF I always take a second look and more often than not I'll grab and buy it, because I know it probably won't be around long and it's almost certainly going to taste phenomenal. Finally, nobody seems to think that spending $35 for a bottle of wine is completely absurd. Not everyone that drinks wine will pay that for a bottle, and that is fine, but you dont see mass mounts of people thinking that price for wine is ridiculous like people seem to think about beer. Doesn't make sense to me.
