If you are into golf, there are a couple of courses nearby. Whisper Creek is in the Del Webb Community. There is a cool bar down 47 with good food called Pub 47. However, I would make a visit to Plank Road Tap Room. It is one of the more unique places you will see, all made out of cedar wood with a very large outdoor area. It is on the border of Pingree Grove/Elgin and their tap list is almost always top notch. You can check their website for the current list.

I completely forgot about Sew Hop'd being in Huntley. Thanks!

I'll keep Pub 47 in mind. Plank Road Tap Room has been on my list to visit. It would definitely be feasible on the way to Huntley. Thank you!

Anyone make it over to the Grand Opening? I understand it was up to a two hour wait but curious how it looks inside? The tap list looks to be amazing so hopefully that continues with the updated brewing capacity.

Stopped at open today about 30 people in line at 11am to get in at opening time. Both Henna’s still on draft. The space is huge & the bar is nice.

I went on Saturday at 730 PM. It was PACKED. Asked for a table for 4 and they said a 3 hour wait and put us outside the kitchen closing time of 9:30. However it seemed like they were taking reservations because there were always ~5 tables open with no one seated which seemed like a bad choice. Second the line to get drafts cut across where servers/waiters went back to the kitchen and where wait staff picked up drinks too. Not sure whether this is their official place to get drinks if you're not at the bar or table or if people just organically chose that. Either way, it was bad for spacing and needs to get fixed. On top of this the bartenders seemed to not really have a clue how to run things. Understand it was opening day/night but would make eye contact with a bartender and then they would just walk away.
Draft list was nice especially the guest list. No barrel aged stuff left at that point but had a Henna s'mores which was meh. Great to be able to take some 4 packs home. Looking forward to going back when it's not a circus.

Yep, I have to imagine there will be some growing pains in a place that large. Looks gorgeous from the pictures I have seen.

Just left the Huntley location and it was pretty chill. Al Pastor tacos were decent. Both Hennas were still on but it sounded like S’mores was about to kick.

I could see the bar being a disaster if the dining room is packed. They might need to keep a third bartender on for the service station.

The Villa Park location is also terribly laid out for the bar line when it's busy. People line up to the left of the bar right in the servers path. Maybe they like impending disasters and people breathing on food as it maneuvers its way to the dining area.

I'm not sure how you don't account for an enormous crowd, especially on opening day. Seems like you'd design the space with a dedicated bartender to have a specific walk up area for people without a table when super busy. Fingers crossed they figure it out.

I get where you are coming from, but realistically it is not really practical nor possible to plan for unusually large crowds for a small business. Just impossible to hire enough staff for the amount of people that showed up. I think most know to avoid grand openings at restaurants/bars/breweries if you are not a fan of crowds (which I am not!) They will be fine going forward.

But it is practical and possible to build a brand new building with a bar with a dedicated service station and perhaps a dedicated walk up station. Instead they chose to build the space where a line of people will crowd the bar, crowd the service station and crowd the dining room tables behind them. Granted, not everything can be perfect and we all get that but they could of used that ginormous space more effectively and efficiently.

You are absolutely correct, but we could also probably critique and re-design just about every brewpub in the NW suburbs at that point  I am in real estate and I cannot remember one client building a house and then saying that there is nothing they would do differently. Just the nature of the beast...

Silly question but how are the lines for these marbles release? I’m going to the one in Huntley so it’s sort of a unknown but I guessing it will be as busy as Villa Park (I’ve never been to the Villa Park one.) I was hoping to show up around noon.

In VP, for the most part, marbles releases have been a pretty good line to start, but if you get there 30-60 minutes after they open, you can usually be in and out in 15 minutes. I think Strawberry was an exception to that, it sold out more quickly IIRC.

I'd be slightly worried about Huntley though, there might be a lot more locals willing to line up because they didn't previously have easy access to the beer. The lines there might be shorter too though, because nobody is coming to get it from the city.

Made our first trip to MORE Huntley today, nice easy 30 minute drive from my place. Took side-roads as I am already far West but didn't realize it was directly off 90. Plenty of parking.

Got there around 11:45, no line at all for cans and was able to get a table right away. Good crowd for a Friday lunch. Food was exceptional. First time trying the MORE Burger and was damn happy with it. Raspberry Marbles is really really good, tart but not overpowering. They still had Henna Smores on which was nice and I really enjoyed Lil`Dusty, damn crush-able but a ton of flavor and aroma.

Space is massive. Its incredibly nice. Feels very similar to Villa Park in terms of decor. Someone already mentioned it mirrors the Revolution Tap Room in terms of space/layout and I'd have to agree. Spoke with both Sunny and Perry for a bit, really great guys. Will absolutely be back nothing but impressed with the trip today.
