I think they've been good, but never really $11/can good. Skipped French toast in favor of an on site pour and skipping this one as well. Those Mehndis, though...:money_mouth:

Yeah, I loved the French Toast. That one was fantastic. I'm hoping this one is great as well. I'm really into these Archtype and Pressed (P3) releases. Always seem to be a solid beer in those series.

One main difference between them is that one is twice the price of the other, so advantage Phase Three for not gouging your customers.

Ooh, I hope P3 adds "integrity" to their motto. "Brewed by honest people with integrity."

I think Shaun's been gone long enough that we don't have to compare everything these 2 breweries do anymore.

    Just my $0.02.

Why is Phase Three gouging us on Curvature, but not on Pressed? I mean, of course these prices are set arbitrarily by the manufacturer, solely based on how much they want to gouge the consumer, so it's confusing. Are they honest people or not?

I can't answer for them on that.

That was priced in line with Goose Island's price. This is definitely the most expensive non-BA stout Goose has ever made.

Falling Colors: Cocunut Kiss is $16 a 4 pack. If you want to compare apples to apples.

Well, that's not really apples to apples either. Coconut Kiss is like a 6-7% easy drinking porter (a pretty good one, BTW) with light adjuncts.

I was referring more to the style they are marketed as. Both Porters. The difference is Phase 3 brews the Pressed series more like a stout.

So, then I was comparing apples to apples- thickness, amount of adjunct, abv are more in line between Pressed and More stouts than any other comparison. I do understand your point about the marketing difference though.

Curvature is their way of continuing to provide a hypey bomber in the tradition of the Side Notes (or Hennas before Shaun left). Because it is a bit thicker, the Pressed series always has coffee in it and Curvature is straight pastry, I am happy they offer both.

Right now I don’t think More has a Pressed quality porter/stout at that price point, but More does put out a pastry more often than Phase Three, so to your point, it’s not all apples to apples.

I swung into Villa Park to grab my Arketype and ended up staying for lunch since there wasn't much of a crowd at open. I really dug the Arketype Almond Fudge Macaroon and I normally don't dig coconut in beer. The coconut was very subtle and blended nicely with the almond and chocolate and the mouthfeel was thick and creamy.

They also had on Arketype The King (Trial Batch) and that was wild. The additions were peanuts, cocoa nibs & banana. Overall it was not a bad beer but the peanut was way too intense for my liking. If that got taken down a few notches and up the banana a little more it might be really good. If it came into cans as it was on tap, that'd be a pass for me.

That was my first visit to MVP and overall it was a good time. Easy enough to find some parking, corona protocols seemed solid (patrons were the biggest violators), food and beer was good and staff was quite friendly.
