Eh, very well could be, but I still maintain Shaun was the biggest asset they had. If I was them I'd at least back off expansion for a few months to see what exactly More looks like in Villa park without Shaun.

You're telling me you wouldn't even think about altering your plans?

It was brewed at Side Project so Side Project "owns it" and makes determinations regarding the beer. I'm not sure what kind of obligation they have - I would assume if any it's to MoRE since Shaun's time would have been while he was an employee there. It's just a weird byproduct of this situation. Can't have been the first time it's happened in this industry.

Is there a post saying there’s a collab with SP?

id easily frequent a brewery that played Attack on Titan or FMA. my wife would hate it.

Let's not get ahead ourselves, that hot chicken sandwich was by far the #1 reason I ever went to More. :sunglasses:

Lol. I actually rather enjoyed the ambience at More. They had very good food, we know about the beer, I could watch Premier League most weekends, and I would rather have 80/90/00s music than Viking Death metal at 103 decibels (and their music wasn't that loud..)

Hey guy, you know I love you, but let's not disparage either Viking or Death Metal. Any music is obnoxious at a loud enough volume, and not every place is hip enough to feature John Carpenter soundtracks 24/7 (as much as I know we'd love that).

I never had a problem with More's ambiance, either. There's very little music/television/movies/atmosphere that's off-putting to me in a brewery or taproom setting. Certainly some are better than others, but it's usually the clientele that bothers me more than the actual vibe and decor of a place.

Why do you have to be such a Thor-n in my side? Are you Loki-ng for a fight? I’d don’t mean to rag; na, rock and roll is better.

Sorry. I did it for the Valhalla it.

I'm more into Nordic Speed metal than Viking Death metal I guess. Haha. I liked the fact that I could enjoy good food and beer, and frankly still watch some sports . And, believe it or not, I actually own a cd of John Carpenter music. I was just watching The Fog the other night. Yes I know..you're happy for me!

'Course I am. Carpenter's score for Halloween and the film referenced in your name and picture are absolutely brilliant, not to mention the rest of his great compositional work (I own the Halloween score on vinyl). He's one of the greatest multifaceted talents we've ever seen, in my opinion.

On topic, I loved being able to actually watch sports at a brewery (I guess that's unpopular here, but I'm already scoping out locales for March Madness this year), and the food at More was excellent, so I hope they can pick up the pieces after this departure and maintain similar quality going forward, if only for the sake of the fans (since we still don't know exactly what went down with Shawn and whether they were actually the party at fault).

Can we just all agree they should constantly be playing Boyz II Men for their customers?

What if the only noticeable change at More is the loss of inflated hype and the new brewer turns out to be capable of adequately recreating the same recipes they've previously made?

There are over 200 craft breweries in Illinois- so at least 200 breweries in the state are somehow getting by without Shaun. I think More will be okay.

Didn't John make Clamp & Gasket? That was a solid brew.

There seemed to be little to no drop off in quality at Corridor when Roger left, so I wouldn’t panic at this point

This is likely going to be the case for beers brewed at More’s current location.

If they do expand production though, it’s not as easy as taking a current recipe and multiplying everything times 10.

Treehouse (imo) had a significant decline in quality when it scaled from Monsen to Charlotte. It was about 6 months after they expanded that I thought Julius/green were on the same level as they were prior to expanding

Very true. That being a good point, I wonder if More wanting to put Shaun's beer into full scale production was the impetus for Shaun's leaving, e.g. Shaun figured out that if More was putting his beers into statewide distro that would make it very tough for him to differentiate himself when he wound up going solo with his own production beers.
