I wouldn't say that, but we're definitely spoiled right now in Chicago.

Perhaps the question is: Does the fact Shaun's reputation preceded him color your perceptions and/or expectations about the first releases, and thus reflect in your ratings? Would you still feel the same way if this were a brand new brewer or a different brewery all together?

Those who have cans: it might be a worthwhile experiment to blind taste the beers with similar style and see how they rate.

Huh? Posting and taking part in conversation and taking beer "seriously" are totally different things, man.

Edit: I'll add to this that I do like beer, I drink it, and I like knowing about beer and beer events in my area but I most definitely do not take it too seriously.

I guess you are the arbitrator of what "too seriously" is. Noted.

I mean, yeah, as far as my own involvement in this beer community. I know that I do not take beer seriously. I'd say that's pretty irrefutable. I enjoy drinking it and keeping up with it.

Fair enough man. Communicating on the internet isn't always the easiest thing either. Do your thing!

I certainly would have felt differently if this were a brand new brewer. Most likely, I'd have felt my wife's foot colliding with my nards for dropping $34 on two 4-packs by somebody with no track record.

ABSOLUTELY colored my expectations, and possibly my ratings, subconsciously.

Juicy is one of the best IPA's I've ever had, and Chaos is a favorite stout.

I also wouldn't have driven out to Villa Park from the city to buy these in the first place, so it's a double edged sword for Shaun.

Had Dusty and Loose Candies. Dusty was fine but I really like Loose Candies. These were from crowlers filled yesterday.

No, I was there yesterday for lunch and still just the 5 or 6 appetizers. I think they said it would take a few weeks.

I ended up cracking open my can of Loose Candies last night. I thought it was a solid beer, nothing too exciting. Had some pretty good flavor but nothing I would go out of my way to have. I definitely think the carbonation level needs to get amped up, which is what I said about Dusty.

By no means do I think they have swung and missed with their first efforts...I'm chalking it up to all be a process and I would still like to get out there to check the place out and get some more cans in future batches.

So awesome that they have other drink options besides beer. Not everyone enjoys beer, and it's great to not exclude these people.

There have been many a place I've skipped/passed over because I don't want to have someone feel left out.

I went this past weekend - it was my first time trying Shaun's beers (have not been to RAM). First off - beers were very good overall. I was a huge fan of Dusty and Loose Candies (got a crowler of both). The American wheat and Saison were not bad, nothing to write home about.

I split the sliders and cheese curds w the ole lady, and I thought they were both delicious! Great food, looking forward to the expanded menu.

Pricing wise on food was average (curds looked like a steal at $5, while the sliders were at or slightly above what would think. Wings were $12 which seemed high to me, but I didn't have them. Beers were a little pricey but not bad. Really only seemed pricey as they only offer 5 oz. and 10 oz. ($2.25-3 for 5oz and $5-6/6.50 or so for the 10 oz. Again not terrible, but not the $5 pint (16-20 oz).

Overall - great place, definitely will hit up again and would recommend a visit to others. Very good food, and I'm impressed by some of the beer offerings. Looking forward to returning to try some other beer styles.

Agree with your assessment. Only comment I have is on the pricing. It's pretty difficult to find quality craft beer, especially hazy IPA's loaded with hops, for $5 for a pint these days. MORE's pricing seems to be much better than Mikerphones.

Have they announced when the full menu will be served? Looking forward to taking the girlfriend there.

Not sure if it's a boon or a bane to have your wife know who's new and who's established, or it just could be the $34 you could have spend on her instead of beer no matter from where it came.
