For the last release, supposedly only the garden shop was complaining. The police walked the line and documented the organization and lack of chaos, in an effort I think, to premptively squash the complaints of that merchant, if they were to escalate it to the village.

I didn't get to go today but it sounded as well run and enjoyable as the first time with the exception of people leaving their trash. I hope people enjoy these. While the Villa Park police are cool so far, I'd bet these releases are one incident of drunk fighting/one drunk driver popping the curb/or someone publicly urinating (again?) before the bottle share ban hammer gets dropped.

These guys also own 3 total businesses in Villa Park. The tax revenue they bring it probably allows them a few more complaints than others.

You pretty much had to stay in line.

I did roughly the same thing as @cboers, though I was there maybe 20 minutes earlier (just before 6:30). It wasn't any cutting by him me or anyone I saw - just that relatively very few people got back in line. When the group I was with got the first bottle, the tap room line looked like it would be forever (and I couldn't tell what was for glassware or to get into the taproom). So I just think more people were in the taproom than anything else

I split a bottle of Cinnamon Babka last night and really liked it. It's like a strong cinnamon forward cinnamon toast crunch mulched cereal in form of a beer. Little roasty too. As it warmed, the chocolate came out to play and the vanilla really rounded it out well as you finish the sip and it adds a smooth, creamy feel. Just like rest of Shaun's beers, the mouthfeel is great. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed it and are happy to have more for later.

Relative to Double Rainbow, I prefer the Double Rainbow ... for now. The only reason I say that is because I preferred how the strawberry was implemented versus the Babka which has a very strong cinnamon forward presence. I do think once the cinnamon mellows a bit (even just a month or two), the Cinnamon Babka will be right up there.

I got very subtle cinnamon on draft. Either our buds are very different or the draft version shows differently than the bottles. Tasted like a samoa cookie to me on draft.

My palate is very sensitive to cinnamon (I don't eat much in a way of cinnamon deserts and the like) so it might be just me.

yeah, it's only a matter of time before the po-po drops the hammer. I'm surprised it happens at all. In no other circumstance would the cops allow 500 people to drink in a public park.

So now we know the Henna b1 was strawberry with chocolate + vanilla, and Henna b2 was cinnamon with chocolate + vanilla, is it safe to assume that Henna b3 (or b4, b5, etc) will be a different adjunct with chocolate + vanilla? Will the next one be coffee, or maple or coconut...? I'd love to see coffee as the adjunct at some point.

Good options along with Hazelnut or perhaps a Chile spice. Maybe a peppermint since the next release will be around Christmas? I’m rooting for graham cracker personally.

IMHO there is no beer worth waiting 5 hours for and lining up at before 6:00 a.m. The only beer that I would have done that for was BC on Black Friday but since Inbev has screwed that beer up now I don't have to concern myself. Shaun makes some really good beers but I feel there is to much FOMO surrounding these releases.

And so nobody flips his/her shit this is my personal opinion.

    Cheers

I tasted very chocolate forward on draft, with some cinnamon in the background.

I believe most, maybe all, of his special release stouts have been chocolate base

I don't have FaceBook but just curious, was it just absurd? I'm sad to see that. People that actually want to drink these beers can't get a hold of them because assholes want to flip them for profit. I drank one bottle last night already and I drank Henna b1 during lunch (at Smoque BBQ) after release with friends that were visiting from out of town.

I know bottle flipping for sale is fact of life in today's craft beer atmosphere and people have the right to do whatever they want with their beers,... but it still makes me sad.

I’m not taking a shot at you by or trying to be a dick, but you’re part of the reason why bottle flipping exists.

If people didn’t start lining up before the sun comes up, which I assume you did because you have multiple bottles) there would not be people willing to fork over cash for the convenience of skipping that.

Just accept it as part of the hobby.

Not taking it as a shot. I always respect honest opinion. My preference would be on-line ticket sales. If you get tix, you get and if you don't, you don't. I hate having to line up that early just to get beers I'm really interested in drinking.

Would certainly hope they do online tix for any BA release. Would be fine with that for non-BA as well.

Then the bulk of the bottles go from nerds with too much time on their hands to nerds with too much time on their hands who know how to set up bots.

Hahaha. There’s something charming about having to bust your ass for a bottle, ie wake up at crack of dawn and wait patiently in line for many hours for your prize. Kinda like going out and fishing or hunting your dinner. Tastes much better that way

At 7 AM to boot ...

It was absurd and it was almost immediate ... I checked around 11 AM and they were already getting posted.
