Not sure of a date but it will definitely be a lot less than the DRs, especially now that we're making more DR each time.

I'm told 12oz bottles only and on premise only. I got some info on a few of the releases and they sound awesome!

Someone just posted, on another thread, that it will be to large account bars only and on premise. No bottles will be distributed. I find this not so amusing.

With it being so limited, this is probably the best way to ensure that more people will actually get to try it. Hopefully it's not Houston only? Walt getting some would be killer.

    Do tell please.

I don't want to sound rude or inconsiderate but I hope it is a Houston only release. This will give us locals a better chance of actually getting some. Especially if it is going to be even more limited than DR.

My selfishness agree's. Take after Karbach's business model with the smaller releases.

the idea of bottling this beer and only selling it to on-premise accounts makes no sense. they would just keg if it if it's really that limited. there would be no reason to bottle it with the possible exception of being able to charge more. but bars would still buy kegs at whatever St. Arnold wanted to charge, so that seems unlikely as well.

Why not just bottle it in 12oz bottles and sell it as singles. Ex. DFH 12, Ranger Creek Small Batch series.

I think that might make too much sense.

I went to tour a few months back that Brock personally gave to my group(Went to school), an actual tour not the St. Arnold's tour when you go to the brewery on any given night. I had asked him about the barrels since we walked through the room. He told me he was going to do 12 oz and sell as singles. He didn't tell me if off premis or for on, but they way he talked about it, I am assuming it should be available for off. And Im sure any member that works for Brock is gonna chime in since Brock wants this a surprise.

We usually barrel about 120 barrels (sometimes less, but that is the going rate). That is about 1/4 of the size of DR12 and Pumpkinator. This is a single batch size for our brewhouse, and we don't have a whole lot of room in the barrel room for a batch size beyond that, unless we want a barrel room full of all of the same beer...where's the fun in that?

As for the on-premise stuff, I actually like the idea of it (this is my personal opinion, not the company's). I think that saying more people will be able to get their hands on it because others can't hoard and buy several cases at a time can be misleading, because I have a feeling it will still go quickly, but I don't think it's an inaccurate statement. Keep in mind that we are talking about 120bbls, that's a lot of beer (we used to make DRs that size). Almost 30,000 pints of beer, AND if we put it in bottles that ensures much more beer makes it into your glass, because every place that taps a keg wastes a lot more beer than we do putting it into a bottle (I think in general it's about 7% per keg).

As a final point, this makes everyone get out and support their local bar and have some pints with their friends. And that's really what this whole beer drinking business is all about.

I apologize if that came off as ranty.

I agree with the idea of on-premise also. I definitely want to get my hands on some of this and I feel that on-premise is going to give everyone in Houston a better chance of getting it. Also, I haven't had a chance to visit the brewery and take a tour yet so this would be a great reason to make it out there.

On premis, doesn't mean they'll sell it at the brewery. It would be quite a few token for the free beer. I see Hay Merchant and Petrol getting some for sure, Flying Saucer, I don't know who else really pushes their beer but those are the top ones that come to mind.

i would say there is no chance this limited barrel-aged beer will be available at the brewery. until our stupid laws change and breweries can charge us for their brews, our brewery/taproom experiences cant compare to those in other states.

Thanks for the information, I didn't realize that is what they meant by on-premise. Hmm this may change my mind about the on-premise idea. I'm probably in the minority but I'm not much for going out to bars and drinking, I prefer to do it at home or with my close friends. I definitely think there should be a bottle limit if they sell it off premise so someone cannot come in and buy a whole case at a time. That being said if it is limited to an on-premise release only then I will be definitely be going out and trying some.

I didn't realize that was the law in the state of Texas, you learn something new every day. Thanks for straightening me out, I'm definitely a newb at some of this. I still need to make a trip to the brewery though.

Yeah, that's why we don't have any breweries that have brewpubs as well, in Texas you are either producer, wholesale or retail. The only way they even get around giving beer at the breweries is with the token system. A person pays for the "tour" and included in the tour are tokens for "free beer". Now if Hay Merchant And Petrol Station receive a few cases, like I believe they will, then they are allowed to also sell off-premises as on premises, and I am sure they probably will and limit their guests from purchasing more than 1-2 bottles.

I'm taking a tour at the brewery in a few weeks, a more personal tour than the general one they do for the public, ill be sure to ask more questions. Do you guys want pictures of their barrel room? I'll try to take some but if it is Brock giving the tour, I doubt I'll be able to take some. He's really protective about people releasing info he does not want to be out there.

Also look for Gingerman, Stags Head, Rudz, Richmond Arms, and Mucky Duck when these come out. All are big accounts for SA, and have been from the start. They always get plenty of goodies from SA, and mostly without the social media hyping everything up.
