As one of the top rated ny breweries I was shocked this guys didn't have a thread going.
I've personally tried a bunch of their fruited goses and sour ipas and they are impeccable. Also their stout game is top notch

Sipping on this crowler of Venus double stuffed Oreo stout and it is as smooth as silk. They nailed the flavor of a Oreo cookie without being cloying sweet

Probably because you have to be local to get their beer due to cans that require sitting in a line of cars for several hours to acquire.

I've tried to trade for Hydras with 0 bites due to Hudson and EQ shipping all across state and there's an other half in Rochester.

Yea the Hydras are amazing, but they're so hard to get even via trade, and it seems that the activity of threads here are pretty proportional to accessibility, not to mention a bit of a focus on the NYC/Philadelphia areas.

I absolutely love this brewery, and it's well worth my occasional trip up from Ithaca. I went last week, but only because I was passing through anyway. That line of cars on a hot day is going to be uncomfortable to say the least. It would be nice if they did it more like Other Half so you could place your order online and grab it quicker. But it seems they've got scarcity on their side.

    Anyone know about upgrade/expansion plans?

Mortalis Brewing Enthusiasts? I'm in it. I've tried 2 or 3 times to trade and got very few responses.

Was it like this before our "new normal" too? Or was it always impossible to get?

Mortalis' stuff has been near-impossible to get from the jump.

It's incredible beer, there's very little of it and they're located in an area where nobody really is. You'd only even be 'passing through' going from Canandaigua to Buffalo on 5 & 20 or something.

It was before Covid. Now that people line up in their cars causing traffic to back out onto a highway requiring police intervention to keep traffic flowing, I'm assuming it's all the more harder.

It's more than hype though. They actually make good beer and no one else local is doing the fruited sour like they do. I'll compare them to 450 north, imprint, and the answers scoop series. Their fruited sours really fuck with your head

It's not even just the sours. I went on like a 93-degree day last year, sat outside and had a 9-10% pastry stout and it was light and drinkable enough to enjoy in the scorching heat. That's some quality fuckin' beer making.

I had actually planned on stopping there and Other Half on my way to SPAC this year for some shows - before all of this mess took place anyway - so we delayed it a year...now you guys are making it sound like it's impossible to get in and I shouldn't even try!

The hydras are delicious but since everybody wants a pappy bottle for one can now there’s no point in trying to trade.

Is this place like the Troon of NY?

Nah you can get in for draft pours without a problem. And you should! It's just can or bottle releases that are absolutely bonkers.

Also, if you go, certainly hit up Rising Storm right down the road.

Sounds like it. Trendy styles. Well made. Middle of nowhere. Only local people can reasonably access. But I guess they actually bottle/can stuff along with crowlers from what I heard a little while back. Not sure the 450north comparisons are the most complementary given the controversial issues with their ABVs, but otherwise sounds like a good tiny brewery that YOU WILL NEVER TRY (until they expand, at which point, of course, they're stuff isn't as good, what with the new system and all).
