I absolutely love Mortalis and wish them all the best, but unless there’s a change to a more sane pickup like OH does, I’ll be seeing them when the pandemic is over.

I hate to be that guy but is this beer really that good? I wouldn’t wait that long for anything or anyone. Like Joe Strummer can return from the dead and I wouldn’t wait that long to buy Clash reunion tix.

Similar to other breweries that had this kind of line situation, one can only assume a majority are re-selling the beer for profit? To me, that is the only logical (albeit shitty) explanation.

Thanks, good info to know. One last question - do they stay open past ‘close’ if people are still in line? Or do they always sell out of every beer they have for sale before then? Say someone shows up 15 mins before they close, do they have any chance at getting some beer?

I was in town visiting family and waited in line July 3 for close to four hours. Best fruited sour I've ever had. Wouldn't do it on a regular basis, but it was worth the wait doing it once.

If you’re showing up at 6:45 and they are still open there will not be a line. The line is usually done within 2 hours of opening... everything sells out by then. If it doesn’t, they stay open until 7. You are basically plucking whatever whatever everyone else didn’t want. At this point, they usually don’t hold you to stated allotments either. So for something that was originally 4pp - if it makes it through the initial rush I have seen them ditch limits and let you grab as much as you want.

The real problem I see is their production capacity is so limited that it creates an “arms race” mentality. Their first few BA runs were something like 130 total bottles at 1pp... Ppl either want their 1 bottle to drink, or they know they can trade it for a nice haul. I don’t see many ppl selling these for straight cash except for a few profiteering turds here and there on MBC.

I'm not sure I'd wait in line 7 hours for a blowjob from a supermodel, let a lone a four pack.

If this was the lone place on the planet, I wouldn't even wait that long. There are plenty of other options that are very very good - I'll just trade and the shit just shows up at my door. I'll see Mortalis some day, but not during this nonsense.

Is this all being brewed at Mortalis? Or are they each doing their own versions?

    It depends on her skills.

Also, I got a full can haul with a four hour wait (July 3), so if you're waiting seven hours you're doing it wrong.

Imagine waiting 7 hours for something when you only need to wait for 4 hours. What an amateur.

I also got through a good book in those four hours. Others looked like they got through some good bottles. Regardless, it beats working.

Only going by what I've read on here - I've never been. But even 4 hours seems a bit much.

Best fruited sour I've had, even a little better than the Answer and Burley Oak. I only did it once...was visiting family and we were killing time on a camping trip. Would I do it regularly? No, but maybe a couple times a year if I lived in the area.

Is it enough better than the answer to wait 4 hours when anything at the Answer is available casually while have a world class banh mi? Because that's where I'm at. I'm not criticizing you doing it - it's your time - I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I get the argument. People wait for BBQ in Austin similarly. Or for pierogi's and kielbasa in Philadelphia prior to Easter. It's... An experience. I think like he said, or implied, if he was doing it every weekend he might have to do some introspection, and maybe just hit the Answer, etc.

Indeed - I didn't want to give the impression that I'm lambasting anyone - to each their own - just saying the 4 hour mark is probably outside my comfort level - but then again, I'm italian, and we're notoriously impatient.
