But if the fruit is added post-fermentation, is it really a style of beer, or is it a beer-based mixed drink?

At this point, I'll never understand why someone wouldn't want a real dessert over most pastry stouts (with a "normal" stout to pair with) or a margarita/daquiri etc rather than these types of sours, but I also don't get Tik Tok so whatever.

This must be what the beer boomers sounded like years ago when the NEIPA first arrived on the scene.

As another feather in Mortalis' cap, their recent red velvet stout is incredible. Somehow both incredibly decadent and incredibly restrained at like 6%. I don't know how it's possible.

    Hahah precisely

I’ve seen several cycles on here

English IPA reactionaries vs WC IPA newbloods

WC IPA reactionaries vs NEIPA hazebois

Do you think they stopped by Tree House forums just to tell every the beer they like sucks and isn’t even beer anyway?

i appreciate the banter and answer to my question. I have had some 450 and imprint so understand both the comparision and the confusion...

    Yes

For the BA's or new Hydra's there are still lines. Most of the stuff that doesn't sell out immediately has already been released in the past so the lines for those releases are far less extreme.

They refuse to sell online and it doesn't like they have any plans to pivot from that.

Not exactly beer related but hype related. If you guys appreciate meltdowns from fully grown manbabies about not getting their toys, a really nice new graphics card (Nvidia GeForce 3080) was released today and the commentary has been nothing short of amazing.

I thought Mortalis and Troon releases were hilarious to watch but these take it to a whole other level. 7,000+ posts of crying and it's still going. I made a little joke about my (non-existent) bot not even having a chance of getting one and I was downvoted 20 times within literally 30 seconds LOL.

Pretty similar to the Trillium "Daily Serving" beers too I presume? I live like 45 minutes from Imprint but can't bring myself to drive & wait for what seems to be fruit juiced mixed with a splash of Berliner. To each their own as always.

Just so everyone knows yogurt has already happened. Energy City and Weldwerks have done them. Probably others. I thought they were great, super thick if that's your thing. Like anything new and different in the beer community, reception was divisive. Carry on.

The mystification about a sub-set of beer nerds embracing fruity flavored kettle sours is not something new. This is a thread from 2015.

Sadly the links to the German Berliner Kindl Weisse ads I had posted are dead.

I live about 10 minutes away from Imprint and most of the beer they release is like a parody, I really don't get it.

I am VERY much not a beer purist (I adore classic styles, I just also appreciate constant innovation and different shit) but I just checked Imprint's website and nothing about that place seems appealing to me. It's like a Mountain Dew commercial became a brewery.

The few Hydra's I've had have been delicious BUT I could never see drinking a full pint of one, let alone a whole 4pk over time. Frankly, it must be a pretty unique process to ensure that each packaged can is consistently thick with all the puree...

Imprint didn't start off so over the top. I had some of their beers in 2017 at a local library fundraiser when they were still homebrewers planning their brewery opening. It was trendy styles like hazy IPAs and big stouts, but not any of the ridiculous fruity or candy stuff. So unfortunately I think it is mostly the fault of their customers that they have followed the market demands to the absurd ends.

Looking at Mortalis' instagram page, their branding is a little less cartoony, but they don't seem too much more restrained on the gimmicky beers. They too have brewed beers with skittles, marshmallows, breakfast cereal, and baked goods.

I agree with @stairway2heavn 's point about the drinkers of these beers. But also from the brewer perspective, it seems bizarre to take things like cakes and pies that some bakery put a lot of work into making, just to blend them up and add them into a beer. Just add the raw ingredients into the beer if you want those flavors.

I really don’t want to venture too off topic, lest they strike me down with the infamous Supple Banhammer of Fury™....have you ever been to Bonn Place Brewing? I know they’re kinda/sorta up in that neck of the woods. Their Instagram page is gold and I like that they make some regular beers like pub ales, etc. I’ve been meaning to make the trip up there.

Ok, now back to alcoholic kiddie drink discussion. I hear they explode like a birthday present from Ted Kaczynski. Does anyone have any firsthand experience with this? Sounds like the best part of this “beer style”, if true.

Look up Imprint's Fluffzilla (jelly, peanut butter, fluff, & honey beer ). Only one review here on BA, but a lot of explosion pictures on Untappd.
