Hop Ranch was AWESOME!! Dankness is right. It was such a great beer. When Victory came out with Dirtwolf and Hop Ranch...it was tough not having one or the other, or both, in the fridge.

Thanks, I'll have to revisit lost nations, I've seen it in VT still. I'm not a huge fan of sessions but I'll try a single of Lawson's if I can find it

I forgot about lizard king, that's a decent low abv IPA. Thanks!

Not really an IPA, but if you're looking for a low abv option, and haven't had it, Whirlpool by Night Shift is awesome. Super heavy Mosaic characteristic (lots of peach, berry, melon).

Also, when the do the One Hop this Time Mosaic, that's a no-brainer.

One of my least favorite hops so I don't drink many beers with it anymore (or at least where it's the focal hop) but it did seem like many people enjoyed it.

Centennial is a good seller for them from what I have seen and you can get it for a good price and it's in the 19.2 oz format also.

I agree, but my guess is that they seem to be more of a volume seller for some of their beers so maybe that's how? A 15 pack of cans for the same price or cheaper as 12 from a competitor I am sure helps them out in this area.

That doesn't strike me as a mosaic character at all.

What do people think of as classic mosaic character?

According to yakimavalleyhops, mosaic is known to give berry/currant, citrus, and sweet fruit characteristics.

To me, the sweet fruit character comes out as peach/apricot(sometimes pineapple) and berries in particular.

For me Mosaic is onion, garlic, BO...not appealing for my nose and palate.

In my opinion Mosaic does not have "classic" or perhaps more precisely "typical" flavors. As I discussed Mosaic in my NBW post (link provided in post #7):

"As a homebrewer I always found it intriguing that it was decided to name a hop variety as “Mosaic”. When I started homebrewing with Mosaic about 7-8 years ago I found the flavor qualities of this hop to be quite variable. Sometimes as part of the flavor profile there was some blueberry (which I really liked) and sometimes mostly tropical fruit (which I really liked) and in some commercially brewed beers which featured Mosaic hops there was significant dank (i.e., marijuana-like which I did not like). I always wondered if this variable flavor profile was the motivation for selecting the name Mosaic."

    Cheers!

That is indeed a big problem. :grimacing:
