One more 'vote' for Palate Wrecker.

    Cheers!

You are probably right when you break it all down. My OP was exaggerated a little bit. I am just really looking for the IPAs you find to be the most aggressive or harsh. We all have different palates though which is what makes this an interesting topic. For me I think carbonation can magnify the aggressive beer experience.

I posted that because of how shocked I was about how many IPAs that have yet to be rated. That doesn't include Double/Imperial.

Hopsickle is my choice for the most aggressive IPA I've ever tasted.

None come to mind as far as currently brewed. The last one I remember having was mikkeller 1000ibu.

Palate Wrecker, West Coast IPA, and Ruination for me also.

I also want to mention Hop Odyssey: Cedar Plank. I had it at Green Flash once, and remember it being completely in your face with hops AND the cedar. That was a really harsh one for me.

In addition to Hopsickle, Moylan's also makes Hop Craic, labelled quad IPA. It definitely fits in this discussion.

Hopsickle, Hop Craic, and Short's The Liberator are some of the most seriously palate destructive hop attacks I have enjoyed.

I started a mental list of my most overly hop aggressive beers then decided it was too unpleasant to think about.

I have to agree with Fat Head's Head Hunter. Two more that deserve honorable mention are Troeg's Prepetual IPA and Ska Modus Hoperandi.

I agree with Hop Craic , I've had it on tap here more than a few times. The bombers here are insanely expensive like $15 plus, and no clue to the age.

I will agree Pallet Wrecker. I never could appreciate IPAs until I tried It, it was so bitter and un enjoyable the first time I had it. Afterwards all other IPAs were tame and I grew to like the flavor and hops. I credit Pallet Wrecker for turning me into the hop head I am today.e

The most aggressive hoppy beers that I've had have never been very pleasant to me. Palate Wrecker stands out as one of them.

The most thought-provoking IPAs for me would have to include: Ruination, Pliny the Elder, Blind Big, Head Hunter, and Heady Topper.

The hoppy beers of Alpine (before the GF purchase) and Trillium get honorable mention.

In the early 2000s in Denver, I'd go between this beer and the original Hercules from Great Divide. Both DIPAs that were very much in the same spirit

I would say Hopslam or 120min. Most Hops from Tombstone was a hop bomb but smooth as silk. There are so many very hard to pin down.

I don’t want to dignify this question with a response. More than once a brewery has made an insanely bitter beer just to say that it was insanely bitter. I don’t see the point in that.

Of course, if you ARE personally a fan of hops masochism, don’t let ME pee on your slide
