I tasted Heady Topper. It was pretty epic.

 

How did it change as it warmed? I imagine those never-ending layers just kept surprising your well developed palate with every gulp.

 

I couldn't. I kept getting these which version of Dark Lord or Abyss was your favorite questions but at that point I could distinguish anything.

 

OP don't listen to the Negative Nancies on this thread. Some of them were probably excited about fine beer the way you are once. A couple of them probably not.

As for me I am the same as you. I'm an old fuck drank crap beer for lack of anything better for first 15 years of my beer life, now I celebrate great beer with the same appreciation you do. Nothing like sharing and enjoying a wonderful group of fine beers with friends, one of life's great pleasures.

I find that I lose objectivity when I have too many beers in a tasting, so I usually limit mine to two large bottles/person, and follow up with sixers of local IPA's or pale ales if we want to keep drinking. That said, the most epic tasting I've ever been privy to involved:

Not too exciting, but went to one of the few East Coast Vertical Epic tastings from Stone back in December. So far, it's been my best, though they didn't have the 02.02.02. I was thoroughly bombed about 3/4 of the way though this.

 

I did the complete vertical epic tasting a couple months back - very awesome

 

@ Han Dynasty in Philadelphia two months ago...

 

Funny, I was at that tasting. I don't remember seeing you there. I don't recall Grumpy telling me you were invited either .

 

I tried every beer one day.

 

About the negative nancies on here. The tough guys who patrol beer advocate forums.... real tough

 

Over a long period of time and many palate cleansers in between. Not saying my morning was satisfying....
