Go ahead and do it at least once, fresh there is a noticable difference between that and the Oude Kriek. I did it and don't regret it a bit. But I admit it won't be a regular thing for me.

I've bought a few off of eBay. I think I paid ~$65 for an '09 Darkness about a year ago, which was the most I've paid for a single beer.

If I rule out the eBay purchases, the most expensive was probably Bourbonic Plague & Vlad the Imp Aler from Cascade. I really don't know what I paid per bottle since I just saw the total w/ shipping, but it was about $140 for 2 bottles of each. I felt a bit uneasy about the purchase, but I definitely enjoyed them.

Guess I'm the only one that purchased Scaldis Prestige for $45.

I later found Scaldis Cuvee special for $20, possibly mismarked at a store, at that price, perhaps
the best beer that's ever graced my palate. The de nuits isn't half as good
    as the cuvee special.

Those were my most expensive also. $27 both very nice, but yes expensive. What drives me crazy is I paid $19.99 at another store for the OLd Rasputin XIII.

Same thing here with XIII. I paid $25 at the small local store that I try to purchase from, but then saw it on the shelves at a TW for $20.

    I'm a cheap-ass compared to you guys.

4 pack of Gubna DIPA for $17.99 which to me is a rip off. Its not a bad beer but that price is ridiculous. It was at one of those beer stores that think its cute not to list their prices. After it was rung up, for whatever reason I was like the hell with it... The cheapest I've seen it for in lower NY is $14.99. Even that's too much in my opinion.

As for a single bottle, Duvel Tripel Hop, $16.99. I personally didn't think it was all that, but I drank it from a Duvel Tulip on my 30th birthday celebration/Sunday lunch/get together. I felt important. HA!

I know it's been said before, but damn is beer cheap in the States. In the Great White North, the shitty beers are $20/dozen. Singles of good stuff (Rochefort etc) is $8-12 easy. Some domestic craft bombers can be had for $13-$18 range, but the 4 pk of DFH cost me $24 and the bombers of Samichlaus and Bitches Brew took me for $35 each. Guess there's a price to be paid for well kept roads and free health care.

What gets me is that the bottles are 500ml. Not 750, not 22oz, just half a liter for 23 dollars. If those bottles were actual bombers it wouldn't be so bad, but the tiny size combined with the high price makes it feel like a bit of a rip-off (especially since regular Old Rasputin is so cheap!). But I bought it anyway . Pretty tasty.
