I spent around $250 at both Toppling Goliath and Three Floyd's when I visited those iconic breweries. The only reason it wasn't more is I maxed out my purchases at both, which su-ucked big time. I was ready to take out a small business loan.

It happens a few times a year, though it's usually nowhere near that much beer. My guess is that he was on vacation and was loading up on stuff to bring back for his local beer drinking buddies. Now that Cascade has stopped shipping we're selling a hell of a lot more of their beer, especially to visitors from out of town.

One other possibility is that the guy owns/runs a beer store in Washington DC and was driving across the country loading up on stuff to sell back there.

A couple of years ago my family flew to Minneapolis for a family reunion and rented a car to drive back so that we could see Mount Rushmore on the way home. We stopped in at France 44 and I ended up spending about $1200.00. The fun part of the story is that when the cashier was ringing me up and the total was already over $600, the manager started to pay attention, and then called to the back to see if there was anything special they could let me buy. I already had a case of Surly Seviin, but he added two bottles of Darkness, two bottles of Pentagram, a Westvleteren 12, and maybe something else. The amount I payed sounds silly, but being this far West, half of what I read on this site is just names that I'll never see, so when I had the chance...

My haul from Belgium 2 years ago. This was an absolute logistic nightmare to bring back home....and it hurt the wallet quite a bit.

I think I spent about $75 on a few 4 packs in Minnesota. Picked up Surly Furious and Abrassive as well as Osker Blues Ted Fidy and their Red IPA add in a couple bomber bottles and I thought it was worth every penny.

I try not to do "hauls" these days. I pretty much prefer to buy a couple things for immediate consumption, and let tomrrow be a new adventure.

Why? Because if I'm all stocked up with supergood beer I'm prone to drinking it all quicker than i should. I can easily let the day get away from me.

I guess I bought a case of Ten Fidy for 105 dollars a few years ago, but nobody was selling it in 4packs or singles around here and I really wanted it.

Another time i spent $75 on a mixed 12 pack and felt like a dickweed.

BTW, to the other posters in this thread: Ya'll Be Ballin'!

RR during SF beer week. That darn Younger helped convinced me it was a good idea to buy a 12 pack of his older brother, sixer of Blind Pig, 8 supplications & 4 consecrations. Wife wasn't too stoked with the $300+ I spent...but well worth it!

i would say around 750 bucks for one of my Upland Society allocations, which happens 4 times a year. Lucky for me I share with my friends and recoup most of that cost. 750 bucks for 24 beers.

It wasn't all for me, but I spent a little over $900 at Ozark Beer Company on 7 cases of BDCS and some 6 packs of their Belgian Ale.
