Most expired beer I ever purchased

    Had an out of town meeting today and I stopped at a local (to there) liquour store in my search for the last of the Lake Erie Monster. Alas, they had none. I did however see a very cool in-line 4 pack of Sunner Kolsch. I checked the best buy date, 6/13, and I thought one month past, not too bad. It's when I got home, 1.5 hours later, that I saw the actual date was 6/12!! I guess it is time to give in and get those reading glasses! :slight_smile:

    Any guesses how a year and a half old Kolsch will taste? I have it cooling right now.

    I drank a Brewdog Dogma that expired 10/4/12 a couple of months ago. It tasted super oxidized and funky. It was a drain pour.

    It happens to us all. No matter how many times you tell yourself to check the dates, you always forget one. Or there's one that looks like it's ok then you get home and it's not.

    Glasses aren't so bad. :sunglasses:

    Saw some 2011 pierre jaques today. Pretty sure it's gonna taste just fine.

    southern tier über sun about a year ago. I believe it was discontinued 3 years ago. Maybe more.

    I have knowingly purchased old beer before, because the storage conditions were good and it was stuff I wanted to age myself. Does that count?

    Pere Jacques is excellent aged!

    I accidentally left some Lake Erie Monster in the cellar from last year and it has quite the barleywine taste to it now, not that bad in my mind.

    I've been seeing a lot of old IPA's on the shelf recently. Saw some 7 month old Palate wrecker and West Coast IPA at Whole foods and Bevmo. Then saw some Ruination with the dates scratched out. Can only speculate as to it's age.

    I opened this last week. It was bottled in 1997...

    It's regular Coors so I am sure the due date was sometime in 1997, I survived!! I somewhat enjoyed this taster glass.

    I have two left for anyone ISO :grinning:

    I picked up a bottle of SlumBrew Porter two weeks ago that had a drink by date in early 2011. I took one sip and dumped it. Yuck.

    About 2 weeks ago while dining in Rehoboth DE, I ordered a botlle of Brewdog Hardcore IPA. It was batch 225, with a best-by 8/13/2011. Sent that back. Was happy they didn't argue too much on the return.
