It’s funny when you think that Sierra’s offerings were pretty much the same from the early 80s up through about 2007 when they introduced Torpedo. Not much need for graphics department if you’re using the same eight or so labels for all of your beers.
Obviously things are different these days with a lot more labels, but there’s still probably not enough work to have an in-house graphics department.

Hard for me to see a brewing company hire on a specialty department when there are probably a lot of design firms who they can pay to do the job.

That said, my favorite local's co-owner is a graphic designer who designs all of their labels and marketing -- but I'd bet she has a stable of printshops and apparel production shops she deals with.

Did anything ever come of this? I’m wondering if Sierra Nevada even knows.

there are a couple comments on SN’s IG page as well as Sea Quake’s about the artwork. Not sure if their social media page reads all the comments or passed it along.

Was Sea Quake founded after DFH Sea Quench was released? Maybe @SamCalagione should get in on this action.

The two breweries put out this collaboration that features astronauts on the label. No idea is it's related, but it's interesting and seems likely

That's pretty funny. Cool of them both to (apparently) sort anything out and do a collaboration.

Thanks for posting, I was just wondering what happened with this, it’s looks like they saw the similarities between the two labels and made a collaboration to celebrate it. I think that was a one and done beer for Sierra wasn’t it?

AI could/should/would have that encyclopedic knowledge.. "Here's our new beer's label. Does it resemble anything already on the market?" Maybe AI hasn't evolved to that point yet, but if not it's damn close. In this day and age there's no excuse for "accidentally" co-opting someone else's intellectual property.

Seaquake is a fellow California brewery, and as this threads history has shown is being updated. One they have also collaborated with. So, it did bring some additional tourism to them.
