Where did you get the news about Southern Tier coming to TX?. Do you have a link?. Just curious, as there is nothing on their site either.

Thanks!. I somehow missed that thread.
I remember there was similar talk about ST coming to TX back in 2011....hopefully it will come to fruition this time around.

MT has moved up A LOT in the last probably 4 years. Big Sky has continued to produce great tasting beer, but now there are many new breweries getting new improved and edgy beers.

Texas. Especially if the pending bills pass. There's been so much activity in the past ~6 months even that it's like a different beer scene entirely from when I was here last.

BTW re: home state favoritism, Texas is no longer my home.

While I am living in California and grew up in Michigan I think both states have superior craft beer scenes--and, as importantly, a beer culture as well as enough laws to support not stifle their continual growth. Up until recently Texas as a whole had neither scene nor support. Exciting times!

    Connecticut.

When I turned 21 seven years ago and I was going back and forth between NJ and CT, I think I was one of the few who knew what the hell craft beer was in CT. Now there's quite the scene in CT, even in my hometown of Bristol.

If thread were titled 'What state do you live in?' almost none of the posts would be different

While true, the overall message is pretty clear: Beer is improving nationwide, even Alaska.

Indiana isn't the most improved state but we might be the luckiest state. In the last 12 months we now have Fat Heads, Green Flash, and Oskar Blues among others. Once Lagunitas is up and running we'll be getting those beers as well.

Improvement wise I have to go with Alabama.

I'm all for beer improving nationwide. I just find the threads that ask for questions stating with 'Which state...' turn into naming your home state, making them somewhat useless.

Well, what else is going to happen?

We only know what we know. I can't tell someone in CA that CT has improved over the past few years because chances are they've never been to CT before and after craft beer started exploding in the state. So they probably wouldn't accept my answer and use that as their answer, because they can only go off of what they know personally.

Doesn't it stand to reason that people would notice improvement in their home state, vice say Hawaii? The only reason I would know about other states is traveling there on a regular basis. Having said that I would've said NC several years ago. To me they are as of late, just going from B+ to A- status over the last few years.

I am thrilled with Deschutes, Stone, Green Flash & several other brewers getting into Missouri over the last year or so. Add on several in state newbies: Piney River, Mother's, 4 Hands, Urban Chestnut & I'd say the show me state has a case...

To get even more local NW Arkansas, at least 5 brewers have popped up in the last 2 years with more on the way...

Yes, 100%. That's why these threads are basically useless.

I believe my home state of Ohio is doing great as far as improving our craft beer scene. New breweries are all over now, and some old favorites putting out new and amazing stuff(GLBC, Fat Heads, and Hoppin Frog). However, Ohio still has a pointless 12% abv limit on beer. As long as this is around the creativity and expansion of craft beer in Ohio will be not only be limited but will also probably reach a stopping point. So, as far as most improved, I would go with Virginia.

Ohio. Distribution has gotten much better. As far as microbreweries, we fall short, with the exception of Great Lakes Brewing Company.

A lot of neighboring states miss out on a ton of stuff we get, particularly from the Rockies and West Coast

Dude, what are you talking about? Great Lakes, Hoppin' Frog, The Brew Kettle, Fat Heads, Willoughby, Maumee Bay, Columbus Brewing Co., Weasel Boy, Elevator, Thirsty Dog, Rhinegeist, Rivertown, Cornerstone, Great Black Swamp, Market Garden, Jackie O's, and that's off the top of my head!

Alabama is easily the most surprising beer state. Well done BAMA.

Understandable. I'm in the NW Corner of Ohio, and we don't get many of those around here. Great Lakes, Thirsty Dog, Fat Head, and Hoppin' Frog are the only ones I've seen regularly around here.
