Born and raised in NC, moved to PA about 12 years ago (women). Revisiting NC to see friends and family I can say the improvements in the state are astronomical.

Edit: I spend a couple weeks a year in MT every summer and I have to give them props on what is happening in the state as far as breweries, pubs, etc. Distribution is still very weak there imo. A lot of trucks go through MT moving to and from mid-west, NE and PNW without stopping to drop off a few cases in MT.

It's not a state, but D.C. is worth a nomination. We had not had a brewery in the city since 1956, before the opening of D.C. Brau in 2009. 3 Stars, Chocolate City, Atlas, Right Proper, etc. followed. These breweries might not be in the top level nationally, but considering what we had before -- zilch -- that's a giant improvement.

If we could only add Deschutes , Boulevard , Jester King and Prairie to this list I would LOVE it !!

We do get Prairie. The only beer I've seen is 'Merica, but I assume the distribution will increase.

Hard to find a lot of that stuff even here. As a selfish Okie, I wish more of that Bomb was at my house!

Anywhere is the Sout East, but FLA specifically. Even only going back 15 years, you could barely find any decent beer. Heineken was still exotic.

    to update myself:

Alabama now has 27 breweries or breweries in planning, and the latest breweries to enter the Yellowhammer state are Victory, Lagunitas, Stone towards teh end of last year and New Belgium come in at the end of this month.

Beer in Alabama is unrecognisable since I moved here in 2005 thanks to the efforts of Free the Hops and all their supporters
