Hop Devil.......One of the kegs at my wedding. This was right after Victory opened. I was drinking a lot of 60 Minute but this Hop Devil blew me away. I dont drink it much now but its still a great beer and I always think about this great day when I have it.

    Enjoy

Thinking way back I moved to Philly in 1984. I went to see a few bands with a friend and they had Yuengling on tap. Never heard of it. I had been drinking Rolling Rock. I remember telling the bartender I could not afford Chinese imports and got a rock. I later tried the lager and it was much better than all the BMC I had. It was a staple for many years even after I found great craft. Drinking the IPL right now.

    Enjoy

Back when I was barely old enough to drink - legally, anyway - a couple of my friends and I discovered a small neighborhood bar on a sidestreet in Columbus' Brewery District. I don't remember where it was located or what the name was, but I do remember the heavy, dimpled chalices of draft Gambrinus that we'd get for all of 25 cents. It also had a pool table and a bunch of cut-down cue sticks. (Did I mention that it was a small place? Think Kramer and Frank Costanza playing pool in George's old bedroom.) Good times!

I know it sounds typical, but pliny because the last time I went to see my dad in LA he found a few bottles for me along with some enjoy by and GF sculpin and it was the first time I ever had pliny ... Same pic as my profile. I was sitting alongside him drinking those 3 world class California ipas while he had his go to budweisers. Good times

Oberon. Went to school in Kalamazoo. We went nuts for Oberon when it came out every spring.

    Lowenbrau in 1987.

I was 16 years old. First time staying away from parents, got to stay at the beach (OCMD) with my 18 year old older super cool cousin and a couple other 16-18 year olds friends in a run-down party motel in OCMD (Driftwood Motel on 2nd St.... now torn down if anyone remembers that place.Betty was the owner and took care of us many times). Never been drunk before that night in my life. At about 3pm after we checked in, we unpacked our stuff, then we sat out on the stoop and drank a couple Lowenbraus and hooted and hollered at pretty much any girl that was within eye sight. Had 5 beers total that night as a 130lbs soaking wet young lad and was drunk as a skunk. Later that evening we picked up some girls from the board walk and talked them into playing strip poker. Got to see some ta-tas in real-life for first time. Not a bad night for a virgin beer drinker (yeah and virgin in normal definition as well). Lowenbrau tasted darn good that 1st time I must say and still has a fond memory in my heart.

Those were the days when the DD was the person decided by the group who was the least drunk of the bunch! :-)

Ah Meisterbrau. Once again my older cousin (the Dased and Confused Mathew McCanahay character), had a fake ID and special ordered Meister Brau from local liquor store owner. Horrible beer, but it provided underaged drinking at many high school parties in my day. None of the girls would ever drink more than half a can as it was so bad.

Hamms, Lone Star, Red White and Blue, Cerveza Panama, Heineken, Coors, Bitburger Pils; all remind me of places I was stationed while in the Army.

    Asahi super dry from Japan.

Went to a highschool graduation trip to Japan with my best friends, had my first beer. It wasnt tasty, and I soon got drunk, but the memory is a treasure to me.

la fin du monde was the first real step into craft beer for me. i knew i loved beer, and knew what "a good solid IPA" like hop devil or 60 minute was, but that was the first beer that made me stop and think "damn, i wonder what else i'm currently missing out on."

That was in our rotation quite a bit when I went to Western Illinois Univ. back in the mid-90's. Never thought it was smooth and delicious but loved the price point.

Nugget Nectar. I'm drinking one now. Introduced my father to it as his first real craft beer and hooked him. We always try to grab a few on draft together every year.

Same here with Heineken. Me and my buddies drank it exclusively for a decade. Then the craft beer explosion and it got lost. Still holds a dear spot in my heart. One of the greatest days of my life was going through the Heineken Brewery in Amsterdam.

In 1990 living in Milwaukee we could buy Blatz for 3.99 a case. Served ice cold it was like mother's milk back in the day.

-Bud Light - my first sip of beer. Hated it.
-Coopersmith's Watermelon Ale - first beer I tried that I enjoyed (I went on to try two more from them that day, and tour New Belgium, where I fell in love with La Folie)
-Stag - many fond memories with this one including my only float trip
