Lots of expensive beer out there. But which brewery consistently prices their stuff well beyond the quality? This obviously excluded imports as shipping costs then come into play.

Nebraska Brewing is expensive but I haven't tried their stuff.

    Same with Evil Twin

    Same with The Bruery.

In fact, I don't really buy the uber expensive stuff so I'm relying on you folks to tell me what is and isn't worth trying for the money.

So what do you think, BA?

Budweiser - it's not expensive. But, it is overpriced.

Evil Twin. No way I'm ever paying $10+ for a single 12oz bottle of beer. Sorry Aun Mas a Jesus, I bet you are good. But I'd also bet you're not that good.

Rogue has been mentioned. I think Founders' main line beers are too much, but good quality. And I have no idea what Caldera are thinking.

Bruery. I've enjoyed most (if not all) the beer I've had from them, and I also enjoy their tasting room.

    But they're all like $12+

So you gave three breweries as examples, but you have not tried anything from them, yet you say these breweries "consistently prices their stuff well beyond the quality"?

The only one of the three you mentioned that I would say I do not buy any more of due to their price and quality lining up is Nebraska. Sure I have had things from the Bruery and Evil Twin I did not care for or felt it was too pricey, but some of their stuff is definitely worth the price.

Probably The Bruery. Even here I have access to most of their best beers but I'm unwilling to have my arse pummelled. Shame. The stuff looks good. I can get a nice bottle of Ardbeg for the same money.

Ballast Point. Good beer but almost $15 for a six pack of sculpin, really? Especially when the freshness can be questionable.

I'm gonna go ahead and go with Blue Moon. That graffiti collection is all delicious and stuff, but totally priced prohibitively.

Wrong. Just pointing out some beers that I've noticed are extremely pricey. Trying to find out of any of them are worth shelling out my hard-earned dough for.

The Bruery is expensive, but at least most of their beers are high gravity, barrel aged, sour, or a combination thereof.
Rogue's beers are overpriced without reason.

Rogue has been the poster child for "overpriced" for years. Yet apparently someone buys their beer (they are the 22nd largest craft brewer in the country after all).

Cascade on the other hand has really gone over the edge on their pricing. They released Cerise Nouveau last November advertising that, like the wine that inspired it, the beer should be drank fresh. They proceeded to price it so it sat at the brewery for over 6 months before they sold it all. Then in February they released Vlad at $30. Most Portland BAs yawned and only bought what they needed to cover trading partners. It is still available for purchase.

When you cannot sell your beer for the price you offer it at, you are overpriced. Cascade therefore is a better definition of overpriced.
