The bombers of beer that I actually like are almost always above $7, and most of them could easily be replaced by another brewery's beer, at the same price or less, that I actually enjoy more.

The Bruery - all that I have had is good but I say lose the big fancy bottle and pass the savings onto the fans.

Mikkeller - at $14 for a little bottle is out of my comfort range.

Ballast Point - Sculpin is worth any price that they ask me to pay. But I do agree that $15 for a six pack does hurt a little.

I thought the Bruery was overpriced, so I bought the Boix for $30 and poured (3) 8oz glasses, approx., Drank it and went and bought 2 more, so pricey, yes, worth it,yes.

I figured the packaging costs would make the sixer cost more. Guess the cardboard and glass are pretty cheap...

And usually, isn't buying a larger single container of the same stuff cheaper than buying a bunch of smaller containers? If not, then why are grocery stores ripping us off?!?

That is my favorite beer but I rarely buy it. I don't think I have ever had a bad one so freshness isn't in question. I know someone that went to Ballast Point Brewery and apparently that is a long wait. People will pay for a good beer and pay more for a better one. I guess it's all about what it's worth to you.

Anniversary beers are higher. And same with their barleywine and russian imperial. The anniversary are hit or miss. The other two are darn good and for the money are as good or better than just about anything else out there.

And to be blunt stone ipa and levitation are down right wonderful beers that are insanely well priced!

I'm ok with that, I don't care for this state one bit. Awful place, simply awful.

But I think the quality of Boris barely qualifies for the price and still think it is on the high side and it's one of their cheaper beers. I'll buy bourbon county coffee for 30 bucks a bomber without batting an eye. It's worth more than most sell it for. Boris is not. Their IPA is garbage and they charge 6-7 bucks for a bomber. Their double IPA is decent but it's 12 bucks for a bomber. Hop Damnation is a really nice clone of devil dancer...and it's 16-18 a bottle! Their IPA's which aren't even bottle dated. Their pumpkin beer, give me a freaking break! I'm sorry but aside from their stouts I wouldn't put any of their beers on a high level.

If you check their ratings, it would appear a lot of BAs don't agree with you. Including me.

    Sierra Nevada
    New Belgium
    Dark Horse
    Founders
    Green Flash
    Surly
    Great Divide
    Oskar Blues
    New Glarus
    Great Lakes
    Bell's

Just a few breweries, off the top of my head, that I would purchase over similar Stone offerings.

I'm jumping on the Bruery train here. Way too expensive. Will usually only get there stuff if it's on tap and even then it's up there.

Also, not all but some of the specialty Lost Abbey beers can get up there. Their beers are spot on for the most part but $12+ for a 12oz. bottle is right at my breaking point!

This one might be weird but i hate buying Green Flash in four packs! I've never really done the break down but getting only 4 beers just looks so sad in the basket on the way to the checkout.

I was gonna post about them earlier, I buy their beer all the time but even as good as it is I feel like Ten Fidy and Gubna especially are pretty expensive - 15/4 pack at some places... oh well I still buy them because they're so damn good

i think Allagash's barrel series is asking a bit much. fluxus, odyssey, hugh malone etc are all over 20 bucks around me. are they probably kick ass? yes, but i pay 16 for Parabola and bourbon county.

Probably just the novelty of the bombers, for some reason people seem to think a 6 pack of a beer they haven't tried is too much but a bomber is OK. I just recently went back to buying 6 packs because when I did the math it was so much cheaper ounce per ounce.

Most startups can't afford to run 12-oz bottle lines. Bombers are cheaper to operate with, as long it's uniform production (think Clown Shoes or Pretty Things). Perhaps there's certain underlying appeal in that when buying, if anyone really thinks about that. I generally prefer multipacks so I can stretch them over time (I like tasting new things several time too, to get the full perspective). Obviously I will take a bomber if multipacks are not available.

Stone has been milking it beyond reason. They should switch to 4-packs and 750s entirely. No more bombers.

Anyone mentioning Stone as being overpriced is out of their mind. For the quality of their beer paying 8.99 for a bomber is not that bad. I think Lost Abbey is the biggest offender of overpricing, especially when they are well known for having bad batches of beer, especially Angel's Share.
