3 Floyd's for me, just because they seem to be one of the breweries where people here in Cincy will buy anything that gets distro'd here just because they make Zombie Dust. I've had probably 20 beers that they make, and they were all pretty good to great. However, I've had the same quality of beer from many other breweries who don't get their hype, so they're overrated in that regard to me.

I also got hard into trading for awhile in the past year. I realized almost every mega hyped beer that whatever I was trading for (Heady/Pliny/etc/etc/etc) wasn't any better than what I could buy at the store right here. That's when I quit trading.

For example, myself and a few buddies did a totally blind taste test with very similar dated Sip of Sunshine/Heady Topper/some Trillium IPA/Second Fiddle/Head Hunter/Mad Tree Citra High. Nobody had any idea what was what, and I believe our local Citra High had 4 first place votes out of the 8 tasters. The other 4 votes were dispersed amongst the rest of the beers.

Unfortunately, too many people can actually taste hype and rarity, which will keep these beers circle jerking for years to come. I'm just happy to relieve myself of shipping costs.

Sooooo after reading this whole thread, what I've gathered is that every brewery is over-hyped... which means that the whole micro-/craftbrewery scene is over-hyped.

Basically, we need to all go back to drinking Ice House, Coors Light, Keystone, Natural Light and the like because they are NOT over-hyped and they will meet everyone's expectation of poor quality 'beer'.

A local one for me in Seattle is Holy Mountain. I've had a few selections and they are good but everyone here makes them seem like the second coming of the Messiah. Just not sold on them being so great at this point.

Having just visited Holy Mountain, as well as Fremont, Reuben's, Stoup, Pacific Maritime, Outlander, etc, they were by far the standout for me in Seattle.

I'd have to say weyerbacher. The boozInes in a lot of their brews is too much for me

3 Floyds for sure. PseudoSue beats out ZD any day of the week and is more accessible. About a year ago even Gumball would sit on shelves of my local bottle shop for months but now they limit it to one per custo and it flys off the shelf and they only sell ZD by the bottle limit 2 per custo - only due to hype! Don't get me wrong, they make good beer but it's not as good as hyped up to be (still waiting for my chance to try Dark Lord though).

Three Floyds FFF..........lame company and Dark Lord = Soy sauce. Do not care about infected beers (BA Moloko) and do not value customers.

There was a good bit of sarcasm in that post, but I was inferring that you have everything from HF down to unknown options that are named in this thread. The only options that don't seem named or overhyped are the already poorly rated/regarded beers because everyone knows what to expect out of them. And so in order to avoid disappointment from 'over-hype', drink the poorly rated/regarded disappointments.

    Again, more of a joke.

Couldn't agree more. Don't think I've tried any of their beers and been even slightly impressed.

Wait, so are you saying Firestone Walker is over-rated?

Rogue is not my favorite brewery by a long shot but I feel like people just hate them because of their gimmicky stuff but their core beers are solid for the most part just a bit pricy so I don't ever buy them. Even the beard beer I actually liked too. I blame them for destroying their image making dumb beers though.

Couldn't agree more with all of this, except, I haven't had much of wicked weed so don't know about them. Rogue is aweful.
