Might have been a victim of the hype, just expected something different I guess

Bell's may be overrated in the eyes of some, but I will be going to their 30 year anniversary party tomorrow, and having a blast.

The brewery with the biggest disparity between other's preferences and my personal preferences. Isn't that the essence of every single response on any overrated/underrated thread? :stuck_out_tongue:

Agreed, and no one hypes themselves better than Stone, which is IMO very overrated

overrated by who is my question,. I disliked most super hoppy beer made, all these ipa heavy places are not my favorites.
but when you say overrated it signals in my mind a direct rating to another brewer...????
    too logical?:grimacing:

Stone. I made some negative comments about them deciding to not build a brewery here in Columbus last year and it was funny because my brother in law bought me a bottle of some Stone double IPA for Christmas. I did try it though and it was OK. I found it to be way overhopped and Id be OK if I never had another Stone.
Great Lakes. Obviously a wildly popular beer here in Ohio. I dont get the love for it though. Again, I find their IPAs to be way overhopped and just all in all I dont find most of their beers to be all that good.
Yuengling. Another beer thats huge here in Ohio and I dont get the love. Really, it seems like fans of this beer talk about how its the oldest brewery in America and thats supposed to mean its a great beer. To me, every Yuengling Ive had tastes like dirty socks. Not that I chew on dirty socks all the time or anything but if you washed you dirty socks and then drank the water, I imagine it would taste pretty similar.
Sam Adams. Easily the most overrated brewery IMO. Boston Lager isnt bad their Octoberfest is garbage (and BTW, its spelt, "Oktoberfest" If you want to be taken seriously, at least learn to spell it right) and their Summer Ale doesnt compare to Summer Shandy.

"I don't like" does not equal "overrated".

If there were a "Cost vs Quality vs Hype" 3D graph, Floyds would be in a corner all by itself.

This may be the case. I've had three of their beers now entirely by accident and I thought all were terrific, but I had no expectations of greatness.

Yeah I think that happens from time to time with hype in the beer world. Don't get me wrong, I didn't think they were awful - I would gladly drink their stuff over a lot of others but just expected a little more I think
