Yeah, Finestkind is not my favorite either.

But their Baltic porter is amazing. Most of their beers are amazing, IMO

Anyone who says RR is overrated needs to open their eyes and drink some of their sours, AWESOME!

How many RR beers have you had? Have you had their sours? Their godlike status is well earned.
BTW, correct spelling is Pliny, not Pliney.

When I see beers like Sculpin, Grunion, or Calm before the Storm priced at $15.99 a six pack, I laugh right before I roll my eyes. No way those beers are justified to be priced at that level.

You've rated 3 beers from TG and gave 2 of them a 4.5+ rating... The other is Dorothy's lager so let's give that a pass.

I'd say they're consistently rated as one of the top 5 breweries in the US and from your reviews it looks like you agree that the beer is awesome, so I guess I don't get why you'd call them out?

So long as "I like" means "highly rated" or "hyped", then "I don't like" DOES mean "overrated".

But who ever says that (or even means that)? Has anyone on here said "I like this beer because its ratings are high?"

It is obvious that rarity, reputation, high ratings, etc. will impact subsequent ratings such that beer ratings will be influenced by these factors (rather than the beer itself) making them "overrated". However, to suggest that some rare and/or highly rated beers are influenced by these factors to either a greater or lesser degree than others seems extremely dubious.

What seems to be happening is that a person tries a highly rated and/or highly sought after beer and does not like it as much as others. Since saying the beer is "overrated" rather than simply saying "I don't like it that much" gives one the impression that you are "too good" for that beer or that you somehow "see through the hype", some people like to opt for the former. But that's just childish and silly.

Look, I don't like Heady. And I don't love Double Sunshine. I also don't particularly like Rembrandt, Polanski movies, or the Rolling Stones. But I would be a completely narcissistic idiot to claim that my dislike of these things somehow means that they are "overrated". Instead, they simply represent my subjective experience and the fact that I don't like them as much as others. If anything, I am the one that is missing something, not the breweries/beer drinkers/movie goers/Keith Richards/etc.

Well, there is some herd mentality, no doubt, but you took my meaning backwards. I meant "I rate this beer highly because I like it." It is all about personal taste, whether "highly rated" or "overrated".

I don't think anyone every overrates Smuttynose. I like them but don't you have to have some hype to be over rated? They are a nice brewery but I don't recall them ever being proclaimed as world class anywhere. So you just don't like Smuttynose? That's fair.

I have a question for the moderators:
I posted a thread about Tree House being over rated, and they deleted, saying that, "we have reviews for that."
How is this thread any different? I was just trying to get some other peoples feedback on this. Especially considering, not everyone writes reviews.
