i'm not as big a fan of the term "overrated" as i was when i first joined BA, having said that i don't get the big fuss over cigar city, i LOVE jai alai but i haven't really tried anything else from them that hits distro that i particularly enjoyed.

I think Green flash is much like Bell's and perhaps stone, a couple of great beers, a couple of not so great beers and a bunch of solid beers. Nothing bad to say about them.

Not sure how Green Flash can be overrated when no one is raving about them. I've never seen anyone list them as their favorite brewery, nor one of their beers as their favorite in any category. They make OK beer at a reasonable price (most of them anyway).

My only vote goes to Russian River, moreso for the way their distributor rubbed me the wrong way when he started making demands at my store as to how and where we should display their products. He wanted us to devote an entire panel in our fridge to ONLY RR, and the only brewery that earns that distinction in Chico is Sierra Nevada. Every other beer must earn space on merit.

I think I'll have to go with GF here also. I work nearby and I swear, all my coworkers choose their tasting room for hanging out after work. They have a nice big tasting room but I swear their beers don't do it for compared to other breweries near by or a few more mins away (ie. Alesmith, Societe, etc...). When I found out they bought out Alpine, I thought my mind would change but unfortunately, their Alpine beers taste nowhere near to what you drink from Alpine's very own tasting room.

Prairie - a couple of very good beers and then a whole lot of meh with way high prices.

Agree with all but Mikkeller. It is tough to judge based on US distribution or when usually the beers have been sitting on shelves for quite some time. Go to Copenhagen and it will be an eye-opener!

For me..hands down it's Goose Island..BCBS BCBBW..2 most overrated beers i've ever had..the BCBCS was very good though..but others i wouldn't buy or drink again..much better BA beers available.

Funny thing is none of their fans like more than 1 or 2 of their offerings. They all bicker over which is best. It's silly.

Woah. Waiting for shots to be fired from HF fans. I haven't had any so I can't speak for or against it.

Definitely disagree with Russian River though. Had a chance to try 19 different beers they crafted by hitting up the brewery and every single last one of them was on point. Whether you think Pliny is overrated is one thing, but RR as a whole most definitely not IMO.

Their sours are world-class, plain and simple, regardless if you think Pliny is overrated or not. Overrated as a brewery? PSSSHH.

If you liked Jai Alai (which is an awesome IPA and worth any hype it's gotten) then you should try WOA Jai Alai. White Oak Aged Jai Alai is World Class and a remarkably creative beer. Since I've been able to visit the Brewery a few times I've gotten to taste a wide spread almost every beer I've had from them I've enjoyed.

Disagree on CCB here. I've had some awesome Scotch Ales, Pale Ales, Porters, IPA's, Stouts and and even a really great sour from them.

So you mean like going to a bar and ordering a couple pints?

Personally I'd say DuClaw and Wicked Weed are both vastly overrated. DuClaw's beer just flat-out sucks, IMO, and Wicked Weed makes some good stuff but most is really pretty mediocre with a lot of off-flavors.

    Whoever brews Heady Topper.

Yea, they're overrated. Ridiculously overrated. Jeez. All their beers taste the same too.
