agreed, was going to suggest choklat. i think that stuff is terrible and tastes nothing like beer, yet it is rated world class here

Gubna, 120, Dark Lord, ST Blackwaters have been mentioned. Those seem to be some of the biggest culprits. I would also throw out HopSlam (some love it, some say it's too sweet, tastes like a braggot, is faded in 10 days...) and to a lesser extent, Westy12 (some say it's the best, some say it's all hype/not worth the trouble and that people should just drink St. Bernardus or Rochefort 10 because they're way better)

Reply to myself: Within the craft beer segment, the most polarizing beers are whales.

Lots of stuff from Shorts Brewing comes to mind.

I came here to say DFH 90 Minute. I think 120 Minute is just ok as long as I think of it as a barleywine and not an IPA.

Was about to post the same thing. With the exception of Choklat, the Southern Tier backwater beers (especially Pumking) are just about the only beers that I don't understand how someone could like. Obviously many do. There are plenty of beers that I don't care for as much as others seem to. But the overwhelming sweetness and butteriness of these beers just blows my mind.

It was mentioned. In the first post.

My vote goes to Creme Brulee.

Choklat, Creme Brulee and Pumking are among my absolute favorites.

My beer palate has developed a wicked sweet tooth over the last 12 mos. To the point that Creme Brulee has become my favorite readily available beer.

Rogue Voodoo Maple Doughnut. It defines 'love it or hate it'.

I think this may be the winner. 23.6% pDev. I haven't even found another beer that eclipses the 20% mark.

Creme Brulee is 17.3%, Pumking is 17.4% and Dark Lord is 14.3%.

just bought a bottle of creme brulee last night. i myself love it (the aroma) and hate it (the overwhelming booze). i bought it to see if my wife loves it or hates it, or both.

This is the winner, I seriously wonder about the folks that can stomach this atrocity.

I'll take my flogging. It's a decent rauchbier. If you don't like them, then you obviously won't like Rogues take on Voodoo.

Funny, I think of Old Rasputin when I think of the complete opposite - beers that are the least polarizing.

Beers that come to mind as most polarizing (generally because one or more flavors are very intense):
    Mother Funker (20.88% pDev)
    Weyerbacher Riserva (17.22% pDev)
Devil Dancer (13.67% pDev - thought this would be higher actually)
North Coast Grand Cru (19.88% pDev)
Nogne O Sweet Horizon (22.92% pDev)
    Tactical Nuclear Penguin (28.28% pDev)
    Sink the Bismark (27.73% pDev)
People already mentioned Voodoo Maple Doughnut

FWIW- Cave Creek beats out Triple Bock by a smidge at 39.3%.

Another vote for 120 minute. Absolutely found it undrinkable.
