I'm surprised it took this long for someone to say something about the word itself. Is the "something" that makes you feel disgusted its pretentiousness? :grinning:

That, and it sounds like a term used to describe infectious diseases or anything else just unappealing. Bleh.

Old styled Farmhouse/Saisons in their original form, lower alcohol, crisp but flavorful. I'm drinking "Working Class Hero" right now. Great shower beer

    Cream Ale
Porter (regular, not some bullshit imperial)
    Dark Mild

Quaffable is a weird word - as long as no one mentions "crushable" we'll be ok.

IPA can be cold, fast and flavorful.

Traverse the SoCal area, smelling the SoCal breeze, I take quite a lot of liking to an ever so quaffable, perhaps indeed downright laughable, craft brew by Barley Forge called Nom Nom. A fruity Mango Hefeweizen is pitch perfect for laying out on the beach sequestered by tourists and throwing these back, one after one after one, six pack and sick pack, tropical delights in the mouth, no doubt, a great time staring far out into the ocean. A nice dip in the water, double fisting, contemplative sights towards the waves. Lifeguards hate when I do this, by this time usually half a mile out in the shore, the salt water mixes into my bottles from the treacherous waves, but salted beer is sometimes a delicacy. If I can out swim these guarders of life, I can extend my fun till I fall asleep, rocked by the ebb and flow of the water.

Have you ever been to a proper tankova pub and had a pilsner urquell this way?Total game changer.
And many czech pale lagers are not fizzy at all, when served properly.

Depending on availability, or my hunch:

Brown Ales would be either The Brown Note, Bell's Best Brown, or Duck Rabbit Brown (not overly hopped imo).

Pale Ales would be SNPA or Duckpin. Elysian Superfuzz is quasi-quaffable, but the higher ABV drops it down a notch.

I'd drink a lot more Brown Note, but at $14 a 4 pack (16 oz), it's too damn expensive. It would be my go-to quaffable beer for sure. Just putting that on the table.

Cream ale, Helles, and Porters are all great options, but personally I'm a fan of the British bitter/British Pale Ale... There's just a certain satisfying something about a pint of Old Speckled Hen (preferably on tap or from a can, not from the skunk-inducing clear glass bottles) or Wells Bombardier. Kinda wish that style would become popular with US brewers, but hey, at least we've got Gritty's Best Bitter, which is pretty decent too.

From Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew; "Please ye may quaff carouses to our mistress' health". An old definition reads: To drain a cup in a long draught. I am old fashioned, but I like the word. It kinda sounds like what it means.

Thank you, and I understand that it's a correct word for the intended description. But I still want to "drain my stomach in a long draught" when I hear it :stuck_out_tongue::grinning:! Cheers!

Gravity-served Helles can give Bitter a run for its money.
