There are some who can. Yards in Philadelphia does a nice job.

My "local" always has on Brawler. Just had a pint of George Washington's Tavern Porter last time I was in. Delicious stuff, that, though high on the ABV side of things for the style.

That's one of my quality budget beers, and yes, it's surprisingly good when it's 'on'.

By me they are even cheaper. Plus the distributor groups them alongside Okicim, Kostrizer Schwarzbier, Benediktiner Helles, and 1 or 2 others, all in the same packaging and same price. I will get the Bitburger from time to time, but the Kostrizer and Benediktiner are the pick of the litter, imo.

Orval. Really should be in the top 250 for uniqueness alone!

Mickeys is GREAT! It is SOOO different in the Big Mouth bottles! I am no beer SNOB who claims to have an elevated palate but that Widened Mouth made such a difference; so noticeable when they went "skinny"!

I have had a number of high quality Belgian Abbey/Trappist craft brewed beers from small, local breweries; I drank them on premise.

US craft brewers can indeed produce beers comparable to those brewed in Belgium.

A small, local brewery that produces excellent British style beers is Forest & Main. For example they produce an excellent Mild Ale that is available on cask (hand pump).

    Cheers!

Boatswain Double IPA (Twin Screw Steamer)

Is rated really low 2.64. But honestly it’s 8.4% at $4.99 for six pack at Trader Joe’s. So who cares if it’s labeled wrong. It’s cheap and tasty

I agree with you. The more I learn about beer the more respect I give. Many times I see reviews based on feelings not style. Now I know lots of feelings go into the way we perceive beer, we are not robots. Giving the beer a chance is all I ask.

What if someone is reviewing a Budweiser and they don't like anything about it? Are they really supposed to give it a good score just because it might be above average for the style? What if they are rating it along side a stout that they really like but it might be a below average stout? Are they really supposed to rate the Bud higher than the Stout? Doesn't seem very accurate.

A lot of the beers in Ohio I think are vastly underrated. People all over the US go off about Bells, Three Floyds, etc... but Ohio has incredible breweries like Jackie O's, Columbus Brewing, Fat Head's, etc...

Yakima Fresh and Bodhi by Columbus Brewing Company destroys any 3 Floyds beer I've had.

And you back that up with a perfect 5 rating. In case others are reluctant to click on your link. Prost!

Tank 7 from Boulevard. It was the first Farmhouse Ale I ever had so it has a soft spot for me. Although I wouldn't challenge anyone to a fight over it.

Sly Fox Helles. It’s both an underrated style and an underrated example within the style.
