Live in florida. So my answer would be florida. Couple that are underrated angry chair and funky Buddha for example.

New York, specifically Queens and Brooklyn.

SixPoint, SingleCut, Other Half, and Finback are absolutely killing it, yet don't get the national recognition that other Northeastern breweries get.

looks like the question is; what state do you live in?

The fact Florida has CCB makes it impossible to be underrated. I love CCB, but FL may be overrated because of it.
    No one is underrating NY
RI is an interesting answer though, what's the best brewery there?

Maybe Washington? I know I've seen a few threads where Washingtonians have been pretty proud of some of their beers. I've also seen some where they hope that people from other areas don't jump on the hype train of Washington beers so they can keep it for themselves. And just glancing at the Top 250, only 2 Washington beers on the list, both in the back half.

I think your answer by definition of the question is going to be geographically local. Very few of us know the full craft scene from all over the country. With that caveat I will nominate MD. I think flying dog is under rated and they have their new experimental brewery. I love Burley Oak. 3rd wave is solid. Baltimore has a slew of quality breweries. I have had great stuff from Monacocy (sp?). Md gets little love.

I say this based on how often this state is mentioned as a great beer state vs the amount of beer that gets produced there that I like to drink.

Michigan. We have lots of great beers that get consistent poo pooing on this site.

I would say that for about 90% of the US that does not get the big media coverage the most under rated state will be the state you are in because you will know a lot more about the local scene than an outsider. That is what is so wonderful about the craft beer scene - no matter where you go there are hidden gems to discover.

Virginia is up and coming for sure. With Three Brothers, Hardywood, Lickinghole, and many more to open, there's a lot of excitement here. Based on the trade forums, I'd say VA breweries are starting to get more noticed

It is tough to get your head out of your own state. The only state I really know well is Ohio, but I don't know how Ohio is perceived beyond its borders. Although I generally really like Great Lakes, I think they are overrated within the state while Jackie O's may be underrated within the state but overrated outside the state. My guess is Thirsty Dog, Brew Kettle, and Fathead's, may be underrated outside the state, but who knows? I think of Ohio as a top 6-12 state in terms of beer, but I am probably hopelessly biased. More importantly, what do people outside of Ohio think of Ohio?

The only underrated states that come to mind are New York and Pennsylvania, but again, that's probably just regional bias. So my only conclusion is that you have to be super knowledgeable outside of your own region to answer this question reliably.

NJ to em but more because its more up and coming. Theres a good amount of pretty mediocre breweries but then theres kane and carton which i think are 2 of the best on the whole east coast they are just both so new and have such limited distribution that people dont know about them. Flying dog and High point among others put out some good stuff too.

NJ gets decently good distribution for other stuff too which is nice.

I've had two beers from Nebraska and both were good, Iowa has Toppling Goliath which makes some of my favorite beers, I also think GA has a growing scene.

I appreciate your self awareness and moderate self deprecation. Fat Heads just opened up in Portland and they are extremely delcious. So in my eyes, Ohio = A+
