oh nice. any word on the barrels used? the last batch used a scotch barrel which was incredibly unique to me. There was a ton of hot scotch flavor in it. Very assertive, very boozy stout. We may have lucked out, but my wife and I waited in line for about 5 minutes before we got our wristbands and pours at the last release. Was a great time, and you could tell Tod was feelin it that day. I actually have a bottle of B2 and B4...if i make it maybe it's time to do a tasting.
I just opened a bottle of Spring '15 - Batch 1? last night. I remember it being really hot and boozy when fresh, but it's mellowed a lot since then. Still a touch boozy, but the heat has all but faded out. I'll probably give the other bottle a couple more years before I pop that. I should think about the bottles of '11 Kate the Great I have sitting around...
I greatly disliked batch one of Mott. I was bummed I bought bottles even living right down the street. Was thin and just didn't taste very good. Huge improvement after that initial batch.
I've been to 3 out of the 4 releases so far. I have to agree that there has been a lot of improvement, and variation between them. This last one, bath 4, was interesting with the use of the Scotch barrel, it got a hint of smoke and peat in there that was not there with the rest. I'm looking forward to going this time and see what he;s done this round.
From Galen, partially aged in port, apple brandy, scotch whisky, and new this season, gin barrels from a Vermont distillery to create not only a bold oak character, but a botanical nuance..
Anyone still planning on going to this? Looks like no rain at the moment...totally rained in the fall...which didn't stop me, it just sucked.
I may go, but most likely in the afternoon when you literally can walk up, wait about 3 minutes and walk in. The line, for me, is just not worth it for that specific beer.
Saturday morning is a Swish release at Bissell. I would expect to find a crowd coming down from Thompson's Point.
Damn, what did I go at the absolute worst time? I headed to Tributary around 2 or 3ish and waited for 45 minutes in the rain. I was thinking of maybe heading up to Bissell beforehand, but I don't think I'd get there much earlier than 12 or 1 pm. Would all of the Swish be gone?
So I'm going to passing by Tributary on my way back to Boston around 1 or 1:30 with no chance of hanging around, sorry to sound ignorant or naive, but is there any chance in hell that I could breeze in / out relatively quickly with a couple bottles or does it all get sold out by wristbands in the first 10 minutes, etc? Thanks!!
Yup, I don't think selling out will be an issue. But there may be a chance you'd be in line for quite some time. I waited 45 minutes mid-afternoon in the rain at the last release, but others have reported just strolling in at other times. I'd call on your way there and ask if there's a line.
I think if you showed up at the time you said you would have a had a wait, but not a long one. I got one pour and two bottles and we enjoyed our beers, but we didn't linger as we knew others were waiting and that seemed to be the general vibe. Hope you were able to get a few bottles
Thanks, I ended up getting a few bottles at Barreled Souls on my way down which used up my self allocated one Stout stop on the way back into town so will have to wait for the next release...thanks and cheers!
