These Pigeon Head Brewery Pilsners are quite good, and local too.

Look: Light, clear yellow with a generous white head. 4.25
Smell: An aroma of sweet malt is present. 3.5
Taste: A solid maltiness composes the flavor. 3.75
Feel: Very good. High in the mouth. Finishes a little on the dry side. 4.5
Overall: A pretty well-rounded Pilsner. I would definitely recommend. 3.75

A classic brew from the region; Moose Drool by Big Sky Brewing.

Somehow this Pale Ale from Cerebral showed up on the West Coast-- with the last of the season's dahlias.

Slight aroma of green grapes with grapefruit in the nose. Light body with plenty of spritz on the tongue. Taste is watery citrus with some odd notes. There is a touch of green melon and the slightest sweetness, but marred by the astringent aftertaste. Moderate bitterness as well. Confusingly, Cereberal had a Saison a few years ago with the same name. Sounds so nice, use it twice!

Really liked this Vaquero Amber Lager from The Depot Brewery in Reno. Strong bready nose, malt and sweet caramel flavor, crisp and clean feel. Goes down exceptionally well. Glad I picked up a six pack.

Didn't want to start a whole separate thread for this question so I thought I'd ask here. What are some of the better beers/breweries to look for in Bozeman? I'm not going to have time to really hunt for anything but will probably make a quick grocery stop. Pretty open to all styles but definitely lean away from overly sweet beers or beers with tons of added flavors. Thanks

https://www.shinebeer.com/ for shopping. Mountains Walking is a favored brewer.

Shine, Town and Country by campus, and Rosauers have the best selections in town. Advantage for Shine is that everything is sold as a single. You’ll get a greater selection of locals at the grocery stores. My favorite local is Bozeman Brewing because they consistently offer an IPA, porter, amber, pale ale, and seasonal (black lager currently). Mountains Walking and MAP are also popular and more known for IPA than Bozeman Brewing. Some Montana classics are you can find at the grocery store are Big Sky Moose Drool, Kettlehouse Cold Smoke, Salmon Fly Honey Rye, Lewis & Clark Miner’s Gold, Harvest Moon Pigs Ass Porter, and Bozeman Brewing Bozone Amber. In addition, I think it’s always worth a shot to try anything you see from UberBrew out of Billings.

This is Parlay 6 Brewing’s 10:AM Blonde out of Reno. It’s an average beer. Nothing to complain about but there are certainly better options out there. :beers:

Look: Best thing about this beer. Clear yellow with a low-medium white head.
Smell: Quite light. A faint buttery aroma is all that’s present.
Taste: Do-able. Mostly follows the smell but gives a gentle sweetness that is then followed by the lingering buttery bread taste.
Feel: High in mouth and coarsely carbonated.
Overall: You know, it’s an ok enough beer. Only cost me $8.99 for a six pack so can’t complain. Better than buying an AAL for the same price. It’s just not a beer I would seek out again.

I saw some Grimm Brothers on the shelves yesterday. I've always enjoyed their beers but expected they wouldn't be around long. It seems they've stood the test of time.

The original owners sold to a couple of regulars last year. They moved out of the old industrial/storage location and into Loveland proper, too. The new spot seems to have an equal emphasis on food and beer. I haven't had anything from the new location (I haven't been up there in a minute) but they've stuck with the same theme and core beers. For a random brewery in an industrial warehouse they used to have some of the best German beers for thousands of miles. Hopefully that's still the case.
