...when Colorado Spring snows, freezing temps, and general craziness ensues in May, the serious beer drinker opts for some River North Brewery antifreeze to weather the weather:

River North Brewery -- the last guardian (Vicennial Series: IV)
    Barrel aged abbey-style ale
ABV: 19.3%; pouring temperature: 46.0 ℉; bottling info: Vintage 2025; barrel: Colorado Bourbon

Yum. Yum. However, the IT guy in me cringes with the beer on the laptop!

...it's a relatively ancient Dell with Ubuntu installed now...as a former military IT guy, I understand your concern, yet to me, this is an 'expendable' piece of equipment...sure, I'd hate to see it fry due to, er, auxiliary spillage, but there is nothing on it that I really care to keep...I've already gotten my money's worth out of it...

Our team had first of 3 soccer games tonight, an unfortunate tie game 2 -2 , our girls are having trouble with shooting accuracy and we gave up a clunker to cede the lead. So im going big beer.
This is Strange Craft Beer Company in Denver and their 4 Legged Friend, a 14% bourbon barrel aged quad. Picked it up a few weeks ago on spring break trip to Colorado. I also got to add the beer to the BA DB. Lets go @PapaGoose03 !!

    ONto my review:

Sampling a 12 oz crowler twist off can that I purchased at the brewery about 3 weeks ago. I really dig these twist off cap cans. They survived an airplane flight and maintained carbonation, so kudos!
The beer pours a rich mahogany color with some slight garnet highlights. A creamy khaki colored head foams up about 1 cm and fades to a sturdy edging that sticks around throughout the sampling. I also get some fine clingy lattice when I swirl the glass or take a sip.
Aroma is some raisins, red grapes and prunes mixing with bourbon and some fusol booze. No hop character anywhere. generally malt driven and on the sweeter side of the aroma scale.
First sip reveals a lighter body than expected, but still some stickiness and coating on my palate. Its an interesting combo on the physical side. Carbonation is very fine and sort of tingly. Beer drinks pretty easy for such a high octane brew (14%).
Flavor is also on the sweeter side and malt driven. I get some brown sugar mixing with the dark fruit or raisins and plums. Some rich bourbon and boozy notes come in on the finish, but its bitey booze not hot or warming on my gullet. Still no hop character here either. Ive been happy with both beers I purchased at Strange Craft, I would re-visit the next time in Denver. This big sweeter beer is a winner in my book.
    4.17 in the BA DB

Staying in Missoula next month for a few days. Any IPA’s worth seeking out? Any cool brewery stops?

I thought Draught Works, Great Burn, and OddPitch were the best breweries for IPAs when I last visited. Imagine Nation had the best hazies but I see they're no longer in business.
Bayern Brewing is a must stop for good German beer and food.

thanks, I really appreciate it! If I may be so greedy to ask, please let me know if there’s anything food-wise that I shouldn’t miss out on

Nothing I can think of regarding food. I recall just eating typical pub grub.
I will tell you to be prepared if you're traveling with a dog. Missoula is not dog friendly. They have a county ordinance that dogs aren't even allowed on outside patios.
