Moved threads

    Are threads ever moved and the original poster not notified?

    Last night I started a thread "Decisions" in Beer Talk and when I came back to check on it the whole thread was dumped into the "Late Night Beer Advocate For Tuesday" thread. How and/or why can that happen?

    If it's borderline off-topic or related to deciding which beer to drink they'll do that. I can understand them not wanting to spend the time/effort sending a notification every time.

    Count yourself lucky. If there were no LNBA it might have just gotten deleted.

    Yeah, I asked them once after a thread of mine was deleted, they don't really notify for anything, moved/deleted/merged threads. I imagine it has to do with a lack of staff/mods and them not being able to take the time.

    i posted a question in the help section yesterday, came back today to check if anyone replied and poof my thread was gone. no email, explanation or answers.. BTW im still stuck on my original help question

    It's not a lack of mods. It's not because it's our site and we do what we want. It's not that we don't want to. The system simply doesn't send notices out, and starting manual conversations in which we have to explain our actions for every single mod we make would be cumbersome and almost always not necessary.

    That said, we'll often create a temporary redirect to the moved thread and set it to last 1 day; thus providing a visual indicator that something has been moved.
