    Let's try it this way.

After nine years living in something less than beer-stellar South Carolina, I am returning home to the Commonwealth of PA. Specifically, I am settling into the West Mount Airy section, but I will be close to Germantown and Chestnut Hill as well.

I am already familiar with the likes of Earth Bread + Brewery and McMenamin's as well as Iron Hill Chestnut Hill. But any other recommendations you folks can make for this general area in terms of beer bars, pubs, eateries, stores with good beer selections, and such would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

You're only going to be about 10-15 minutes from Manayunk, a ton of choices there.
Also, I've heard that The General Lafayette in Barren Hill either is reopened or is soon to reopen as the Barren Hill Tavern and Brewery.

Tired Hands in Ardmore and Forest & Main in Ambler are the first two things that pop into my head right away.

Check out Philly Tap Finder for what's pouring in the city, there's always multiple places with great taplists!

I remember Chestnut 7 getting some good beers on tap from time to time, but I never got to check it out before moving away. You have the immediate area pretty well covered. I would add that the Trolley Car has to go beer. Prices are all over the map (mostly on the high side) but it's one of the few close by places for singles and occasionally will have some very interesting stuff in stock.

If you've been gone for 9 years, the list of places to go is huge. Seriously, too large to list. As previously mentioned, PhillyTapFinder will probably be you best bet to find new places. Both Fishtown and South Philly are now loaded with bars that have killer tap lists.

Well done, folks. Well, until I get my bearings, I think it will be local first. EB+B is tough to beat, especially with that delicious Altbier on tap and killer flatbreads. That said, I will be making the rounds. Slowly but surely.

Expect to pay more $$$ for beer. Philly is on the high side, compared to SC.
