So some of you might remember my posts a month or so ago asking for help in directing my wife to various Richmond breweries. Here was the pic of her haul that trip:

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/commun...st-beer-haul-2017.480801/page-40#post-5450887

So what I left out of those posts was that she was actually on a job interview that trip, and she got the job. So we are lucky enough to be relocating back to Richmond this summer from Iowa. My wife is a Powhatan native and VCU grad, and I lived in Richmond myself from 1998-2008, so we're not brand-new to the area, but I left back when Legend was still the class of the local brewery scene. Much has changed!

We just finished our house hunting and interview trip (I needed a job too!), and I was able to visit many beer stops along the way. The Answer, Triple Crossing (both locations), The Veil, Final Gravity, Capital Ale House, Mekong - it's amazing the quality beer that is available around town.

So thanks to all those who regularly update this page with release info, brewery recs, etc. It was a huge resource for this trip. If there are other good resources for me to be aware of, please let me know. I've heard about a Veil Facebook page I think? Thanks again!

I'm in the same boat as you! I'm from Richmond but had to move away for school/work in 2010, right before the beer scene started to take off. My job finally agreed to let me transfer to Richmond though, so I'm heading back in September. One thing I've learned so far - its a terrible time to be buying a house. I'm still very excited though, my office will be in Scotts Addition, 2 blocks from The Veil.

The Veil facebook group is called "Behind the Veil", and there is a separate one for trading but I don't know what its called.

A few other local fb pages you may want to join up on.

    - Behind the Veil (trades only)
    - RBE Richmond Beer Elite
    - RVA Tastes & Trades - mainly local in person trading in the RVA area
    - Fans of Virginia Craft Breweries - people from all over the state but the majority of them are in the RVA area I believe.
    - Under the Crossing - Fan page for Triple Crossing
    - Questions and The Answer - Fan page for The Answer. An actually posts regularly in the group
    - CheersVA - Great page for keeping up to speed on va craft beer news, openings, events, etc

Lol "Under the Crossing" is a hilariously bad name for a TCB facebook page. I'll still join though, thanks for the link.

I hear ya on the house front. I did a lot of research on all kinds of data points regarding houses, and two of my spreadsheet columns were "Distance from the Veil" and "Distance from Mekong". I lived in the Museum District and the Fan for my 10 years in Richmond, but we're coming back with two kids, so that ain't gonna work anymore. We were targeting Bon Air at first because of its great location and it would feed into the school system in which I'll work, but we couldn't get any contracts to settle at a mutually agreeable number. Now we're targeting Glen Allen. Hope for the best!

@TomCat11 - that was some EXTREMELY thorough and helpful links. I really appreciate it!

Not strictly beer related but Lunch.Supper is a fantastic restaurant about 2 blocks from Veil that I visited when I was up there a last week. Definitely recommend checking it out. Good spot for lunch before waiting 3 hours in line for cans.

That is a new spot since I've moved - I saw it when we were driving through Scott's Addition on the trip, and noticed its high Yelp ranking, so I stopped by to get a feel for it, but the wait was 90 min. Will make it a point to check it out once I'm back in town. I lived 2 blocks from Scott's Addition from 98-04, and I NEVER thought it would eventually be such an awesome place full of so many great options.

Yea, "Under the Crossing" sounds like a headline describing a modern archaeological find in London.
