What kind of food are we talking about here? Some sort of chimichangas? :grimacing:

My taco joint in Denver rivals the stuff i've had in Mexico. Hand-made corn tortillas are the key.

I miss Chicago. Food scene is one the best in the country. The "scene" in Denver is happening in just about any major American city right now. Nothing special.

The lefse and walleye are seriously lacking in this city. Not like my old place up north.

Good word. A guy asks for Denver beer advice and we devolve pretty quickly. I'm surprised this didn't get to race, religion, or baseball. And how did someone not mention hot dogs and ketchup? I live in the Chicago 'burbs and prefer thin crust pizza. Go.

OK, I'm going to ask all you former-Chitown-now-mtn-BAs, where is the place to hit in Chicago? Specifically for someone coming from Denver? I'm headed there for a couple days. Currently have Publican, GI, and Bangers & Lace on deck. Last trip went to Map Room, West Lakeview, Delilahs, and Hop Leaf. Looking to check out a few up-and-comers, but there seems to be a ridiculous amount of choices, and figured the mountain forum has as much expertise on this question as the Midwest forum.

I'll be staying Downtown and won't have a car so the out-of-this-world lists at Niche and Bavarian Lodge will have to wait for another trip.

I was just up there over the holidays and drank a ton of good beer. Looks like you already have some good spots picked out. I'd maybe check out Half Acre, their taproom is awesome. Fountainhead is just a few blocks away as well. https://www.beermenus.com/places/1904-fountainhead

You can always go back to Hopleaf and pound Zombie Dust.

I second Fountainhead and Revolution. Kuma's for awesome burgers and beer! I've also heard good things about Local Option but have yet to have been. Otherwise you visited most of the other great stops that I know of. FYI Lagunitas also has the new taproom and brewery in Chicago.

Half Acre and Revolution(brewery not taproom) are must visits. lagunitas is also worth checking out but they're closed on mon-tues so I wasn't able to make it when I was in town last.

Just found this thread. I will be moving out to Denver next month and can't wait! Chicago is a great city, but to me Denver is just really laid back and in the few times I've been out, I have never had to stand in line or even seen an overcrowded place. Last time out we discovered Comrade Brewery, the BA Quit Stalin was awesome!

Can't wait to get out there (I will be bringing my stash of BCBS and the variants) so hopefully will get to meet some of you.

    Cheers!

First, hope you can survive out here - there's just NO transplants from Chicago to be able to help you out, you'll basically be on an island  ... just be sure to tell all of us how bad we are at making that very Chicago-centric dish/food that no one in Denver cares about and you'll fit in nicely!

Second, and this one's serious: if I see you at Pepsi Center in a goddamn Blackhawks jersey being a dickbag I'mma be real sad. Let's just all hate the Wild/Blues together and call it a day.

But welcome and glad you've already had Comrade, best brewery in town right now - you're already a local.

Ill make sure to wear my Blackhawks jersey in the privacy of my home, with the shades closed.
