I currently live in West Virginia but I am moving out to Phoenix, AZ late july. I've heard I should take a bunch of Great Lakes beer with me but was wondering what beers other people think I should take. I want to take a little bit of Jackie O's and I have plenty of friends who can send me stuff but I don't know if there is anything I should grab right now to take.
As someone who has moved a significant distance, my recommendation would be to take all of your favorite "regular" beers. When you start to miss your favorite breweries, it's not going to be the barrel-aged imperial stout that you crave, it'll be the pale ale or something simple.
Agree with weaverr. I am visiting Williamsburg VA from Phoenix this week and would be interested in solid fresh regular favorites of yours from NC, VA, PA, etc. I have sampled Alewerks and Legend since Saturday and hopefully can try other regional brewers. Whales would be cool but not necessary. If you are a hop head you will enjoy the access to the most stellar of Cali brewers (except Russian River). The AZ beer scene is stepping up its game in addition to Four Peaks and Santan. Fate, Arizona Wilderness, Scottsdale Brewing are pretty solid but are brewpub only for the most part. SunUp, Lumberyard, and Mother Road are pretty good as well.
