Hops & Habanas in Madison, MS is the place to go for beer. They pretty much get everything that comes into the market. Secondary would be Whole Foods, McDade's at Maywood Mart and Fresh Market.

For bars ... Fondren Public seems to be the "it" spot right now. There's going to be a new restaurant open in the fall named Saltine that will be oyster centric, but the taps are said to be in the 30 - 40 range. The owner and head chef is really into beer, so I don't expect just random beers on tap. Really a lot of the local restaurants (not chains) seem to be stepping up their drink local taps, but they're only about 5 - 10 taps max.

I see you're coming from Louisiana, so depending on which part of the state, you may be overwhelmed or underwhelmed.

CVM4 pretty much covered it. The Pig & Pint in Fondren is another decent spot for beer. Buffalo Wild Wings isn't bad. A nice little beer spot in Ridgeland is Humidor Cigars. Angela really knows her beers and always has some good singles in the fridge. The Lucky Town brewery will be opening in September, so check out a brewery tour.
