I'm commuting from Decatur, Ga to HOU until June when I relocate my family to Kingwood (job proximity, schools).
I'm coming from Decatur, which has a wonderful pub culture. From my initial searching, I know that I can expect none of that in Kingwood- would love to be proven wrong.
So, where do people in Kingwood/Humble go for beer (other than into Houston)? Beer stores? Anything?
    Any help would be appreciated.

Also, if anyone is interested in GA locals or beers not found in Texas, let me know. I am open to bringing stuff with me on my weekly trips for trade. I usually end up at Petrol Station at least once a trip which could work for trades.

    Cheers!
    Dustin

    Maybe the Woodlands is closer?

I don't go to Houston much, so my help is not going to be much....help

My GF's family lives in Kingwood and I am there pretty regularly. Molly's pub used to be the best bar in the area. It's definitely nothing special, but they usually have at least a few craft selections on draft, and they have very low prices. I actually saw that Saint Arnold's did a Bishop's Barrel 5 release party there, so I guess it's not the worst for suburbia.

However recently I found a place in the Atascocita area that has a very solid selection. It's called Mojo's Sports Grille, and you would never expect it to be decent from the outside, but it's by far the best beer bar in the area. Here is a link to their Untappd to get an idea of the beers they have had on tap recently. https://untappd.com/venue/197645

Also I haven't found any beer stores in the area that have a better selection than Spec's. There is one in Kingwood and one in Atascocita which have similar selections.

I use to live in Kingwood, that was in 09, so things might have changed. Though not a lot of options in the area. There is a Molly's Pub which will have a few decent taps. Not a bad spot, just typical for the chain. Kingwood and Atascocita have a Specs. The Atascocita location is by far the better, but still nothing special. In Humble there is a cool little dive bar called Twin Oaks. Don't expect much, but last time I was there, they had a semi decent bottle list. Have no idea if it is still the same though. I wish I had something new to say, but GoPokes said it all.

Oh, almost forgot. Keep an eye out for City Acre Brewing. About half way between Kingwood and downtown Houston. A brewpub that was suppose to open a while ago, supposedly still are. Nothing new on their website for a while. http://www.cityacrebrewing.com/Main.html I hope they are still a go...

I live in Kingwood currently and I will second the suggestion about Mojo's. The beer selection is typically pretty good, but it is a sports bar, not a craft beer pub so don't get your hopes up about the atmosphere. But if you're just looking for somewhere really close to have some pretty good beer, this is by far the place to go.

The Spec's in Atascosita is definitely bigger than the Kingwood location (I actually work there) but it's very hit or miss on some of the things we get in stock, occasionally we'll get rarities but sometimes we get shafted on simple stuff because Spec's doesn't allocate it to us (for whatever reason). HEB in Kingwood usually has some cool stuff that Spec's won't have too.

Yeah I actually found some Backwoods Bastard on the shelves at the Kingwood HEB right before Christmas.

Nice rec on Mojo's based on the Untappd activity and the draft list from FEB 2013 on their website. Glad to see something is in the area, as it was looking really slim.

    Thanks for all the info.

There is also Shamrock's and Brickhouse Tavern in the Humble area. But they are kind of like GoPoke's description of Molly's, not a craft beew pub but they do have craft options.

In most cases you would probably have to go out towards the Woodlands or Houston to really find a craft bar.

Anything that is available in GA and not in TX that you consider a must try or highly recommend? Don't have many beers for trade but I would definitely be interested in getting some out of state beers to share with some friends.

Breweries with quality offerings that I haven't seen in Texas, and are available in GA:
Cigar City, but only Jai Alai
    Bells
    Westbrook
    Evil Twin
    New Holland
    Port/Lost Abbey
    Weyerbacher
    Smuttynose

GA Locals- Sweetwater, Terrapin, Three Taverns, Wild Heaven, Red Brick- all have a couple of standouts.
Terrapin Wake and Bake is just about a must try, Sweetwater IPA is good, Three Taverns has a really solid RIS.
