I'm moving to Nashville on Labor Day weekend for 6 months or so for work. Driving out from San Diego and stopping along the way at some places to pick up some tasty brews. But even more importantly I'm looking for new bad to meet and places you can recommend in the city. Will be bringing some beers but leaving most of my cellar here in sd . Any advice is welcome and I have been reading up on the other threads in this region thread. Open to trades and sharing some Cali and whatever gems I find on the road in between. Hope to meet some new bas soon and share some new brews !!

Some of my favorite places in Nashville:

    Craft Brewed
    The Pharmacy
    Yazoo Brewing
    Frugal McDougals
    Midtown Liquor
    The Flying Saucer

Also an hour north is Bowling Green, KY, we get a good amount of beers that aren't available in Tennessee.

    Enjoy!

Preemptive welcome to Nashville! Our beer scene is quickly growing and changing for the better.

I definitely second Craft Brewed, The Pharmacy, and Yazoo. Would also add Red Dog (store in Franklin, about 20 min south of downtown Nashville), 12 South Taproom, Hops and Crafts, Blackstone Brewery, and Black Abbey Brewing. Let me know via PM when you arrive and perhaps we can get together and grab a beer at one of the above places!

Not to hijack the thread, but I am also moving to Nashville in 2 weeks. Moving down from Chicago. Appreciate the advice in this thread. My apartment is actually a couple blocks away from Craft Brewed so that is pretty awesome. Will be bringing a fair amount of my midwest cellar down with me in the move and would love to share some of it with any Nashville tasting groups.

Nashville is only a couple of hours up I65 from Huntsville, which will allow you to sample Alabama breweries as well, including Good People Snake Handler and Straight To Ale Monkeynaught, if you fancy hop bombs

I am certainly down to learn and explore the Nashville craft beer scene with some recent transplants as well. I agree though I have only heard positives about living in Nashville in general. Excited to see how the beer scene continues to grow and evolve.

Nashville is one of my favorite cities. Now with that said, just be aware that you are probably going to experience some beer culture shock after living in San Diego. There are definitely some good options available, but let's just say the pickins' are slim, at least compared to what you are accustomed to in Cali. As mentioned by others, you can hit up Huntsville, AL in about 1.5-2 hours. They have quite a few solid breweries there. Birmingham also has a nice budding beer scene, both are worth a visit if you find yourself bored on a weekend.

    Welcome to Nashville!

Solid lists above, I would add M.L. Rose, Burger Republic (sneaky good tap list), and Broadway Brewhouse - Midtown, but probably a half step or so below most of the above.

I also agree with semibaked that the occasional trip to Bowling Green is well worth the time.

Hopefully I'll see you both around town for a pint at some point.

Nashville's beer scene is no where near as good as San Diego's, but not many places are, so really unfair comparison. While we still have a ways to go, it is light years away from what it was a couple of years ago. I still see the "Nashville is a waste land" type of posts, but honestly, I could go to Red Dog every week and have a different beer almost every day for a long time. We are making strides, but our local breweries are really putting out good and interesting stuff.

I too ended up a few blocks from craft brewed on Franklin. Been loving all the stouts and and beers I couldn't get in Cali for sure. Been to craft brewed a few times now and Ryan has helped me find and try some new brews for sure. Also was in Tampa so brought some goodies home and have some trades coming in as well. Hoping to start having some tastings here soon and meet some new BAs !!

Tennessee Brew Works, it is fairly new. Located on the outer edges of downtown. Ask for the beer flight, they give you a sampling of there offerings. Ended up getting a growler of there Country Roots Stout.

I would but going to Cool Springs Brewery 5th Anniv. party. If you're out in the Cool springs area, might want to look at that.
