Moving to central Vermont from New Jersey soon and wanted to get all of your expert opinions on the must try beers of the Vermont distro.

I know finding Hill Farmstead and Heady on the shelves isn't likely but what are some other good beers/ breweries to look out for that I haven't seen in NJ?

Thanks in advance for all the help.

If you're moving here, then you'll have time to sample all of the local beer.

For Vermont/brewery only beer, make sure to check out Fiddlehead, 14th Star, Backacre, Lost Nation, Drop-In.

not sure I would list Backacre as brewery only as they don't have a brewery and you can't go there...

short rides north should afford you frequent access to heady topper. lawsons deliveries at the warren store will be easily accessible for you as well.

Backacre is a member of Vermont Brewers Association and they have state and federal brewers licenses. They call themselves a "Blendery", but in the context of the OP looking for Vermont only distribution that he can't get in NJ, Backacre qualifies as an answer.

You also can't go to Lawson's or Alchemist, but that doesn't disqualify them as a brewery.

agreed, but you didn't list Alchemist or Lawsons above like you did Backacre

Did you read the OP's post? He said besides HF and Heady, which means he's familiar with the big 3.

Yea, Alchemist is nice and all; Hill Farmstead will basically be unavailable unless you go up to Burlington. Warren Store is just over the mountain on Rt 17, to get Lawsons.

But the place you need to check out is Bobcat in Bristol, VT. Like 20-30 min drive from Middlebury iirc.

Long Trail has really stepped up their game with the Farmhouse and brown bag series. Zero Gravity also makes some really excellent beers.

Leaving the dump of NJ to move to beautiful VT isn't enough?!?! You'll have plenty of time to find great beers in VT since you'll be living there so I would just relax and drink all the good local VT beers you can when you arrive. ha-ha.

Otter Creek is in Middlebury and has great lunch/taproom. Two Brothers is my favorite spot in Middlebury, great local food, decent tap list
