Bobcat brewpub should be your new local, and Otter Creek and Drop-In will keep you in growlers galore.

One more a bit under the radar is Foley's IPA out of Brandon. Won't blow your socks off, but is solid. Their Native Brown and Ginger Wheat are fine. The Co-op has a respectable bottle selection for a small store.

You will love Bobcat; super high quality beer and food. I have actually had (good) dreams about a meal I had there. The bakery across the street makes the best chocolate cake in the world. Remember, it's your own damn fault if you gain 20lb after you move here...

Wow everyone seems to agree on bobcat... nice. Guess that means I'll have to ski and hike the weight off.

Bobcat is my favorite restaurant in the Burlington area for food and atmosphere. Beer pretty good too - an occasional home run

My last visit to Bobcat was ~ 8 yrs ago on a ski trip. They had an ominous, weird "4 BEER PER PERSON LIMIT" policy posted a few places. Wasn't an issue, though - their mediocre beer & crummy service didn't warrant more than a 2 beer visit.

Maybe if things have changed will give it another shot.

Things have changed. New owners, new staff, new (skilled) brewer. The last 4-5 years they have been fantastic. No limit on beer orders, though if you fall down on the way to the bathroom, you might be cut off.

NJ isn't a dump. It's kind of like when someone offends an ex-girlfriend and you have to defend someone you don't really feel like defending. But NJ isn't a dump. I mean theres no great towns like Bridgeport or Hartford, but it's still has some nice places and good beers. Believe me VT has it's own issues.

I was being facetious. The only times I've spent in Jersey was driving down the Jersey Turnpike and the smell was horrific the second you came into Jersey from NY until you exited into PA. It was almost instantaneous upon crossing boarders... ha-ha. Just seems VT is a much nicer place to live since it's more scenic and seems to be much cleaner and personal I prefer drinking beer in clean outdoor air. ha-ha.

You clearly know nothing about NJ.

Having worked in CT for a few years, I can assure you, CT has as many if not more dumpy areas.

And so does Vermont, and everywhere else for that matter.

Hate to agree with Flashy, but much of NJ is really quite decent; semi-rural to rural and pretty easygoing. Some nice beaches and some super tacky beach towns (though they are that way on purpose). Most people are so stunned by the wasteland across from Manhattan or the ugliness near Philly that they are blinded to the other 90%.

There are some seriously bad areas of NJ with bad air quality. I understand the bad turnpike smell all too well. But yes there are definitely parts of NJ that are rural and beautiful.
