i am a complete newbie. I always thought it is so cool to brew beer at home. Now, I bought a brewing kit from Mr.Beer. I followed recipe for Pale Ale carefully and I hope to have some good beer soon. Well, all I did is pour water in the kit and then added malt from the can and poured yeast on the top. It seems way too easy and simple.

Is this what is called homebrewing? I did not feel like brewing beer is an art or craft. I did nothing to PAjaSkotanize the proces.

Brewing is like mealtime. You can go out to have someone serve you. You can put a box in the microwave and eat a tv dinner. You can add some cooked chicken to a packet of stir fry veggies and sauce. You can make your own meal from scratch.

You know I'm going to challenge you to jump into a more full-fledged extract brewing process or Brew in a Bag (BIaB) for an all grain recipe next, right? There are a variety of ways to brew. Each have a different level of time and effort that you need to put in.

As a newbie, maybe you are unaware of the different approaches to homebrewing that @inchrisin alluded to above. Refer to howtobrew.com

That's like going to putt_putt golf and then saying there is nothing to this golf game...you haven't brewed a good beer...But...many people on this forum started with one of those kits and got hooked on the process and eventually learned how to brew a good craft beer...good luck...

Ok. So there is more than simply pouring malt into water

Pweis909 thank you for shearing the link. I am enjoying the book.
