I've moved on - to anything other than any GI/AB beer. I'm still sitting on a case of 2012. I bought 2015 to cellar. I have $150 of beer that tastes like bad orange juice. Feel free to roll the dice on 2016. I won't.

 

Anyone know of anything cool happing in Duluth/Superior on Black Friday? Tycoon's used to have an event, but they rebranded that restaurant.

Also, assuming typical bottle shops for bottles?

 

For all the people hearing only regular, a few things might be possible; Depending on the store, for various reasons, they might only be allocated regular BCBS. It's possible the beer rep just said only Regular instead of saying you don't get any others. Also, Depending on where the store is located in MN, that distribution company might have only received regular BCBS. The good news is that Mpls/St. Paul is getting all 3. I can only speak for my store, but I'm getting a good chunk less than last year.

 

I heard Minnesota was only getting variants and no regular.

 

You may be onto something, maybe there is some truth to what these folks are saying about GI having to dump some which is why you are getting less than last year? Maybe they just overstated the "no variants" part? ... Just throwing that out there as a possibility.

 

FWIW, a liquor store owner told me his distributor told him they'd be getting the 2 variants in addition to regular.

Take it all with a grain of salt and let the wild speculation continue unabated!!!


***Edit: I had previously commented about a maple rye variant not being released. Upon further internetting, it looks like this was just the Prop that some people took to be another variant on its own. That does not appear to be the case.

 

Can we stop the speculation? It seems some stores won't get variants. As Bill stated, they are getting BW and Coffee.
I heard that Maple wasn't up to standards, so it won't be released at all. GI website does not show it as part of their lineup. That's not speculation, that's fact.

I heard there is going to be a variant where they blend in a few drops of every previous batch into a new batch. It will be called bourbon county bourbon county.

I can't remember what time I got there last week, but I did watch an entire star wars movie while I was there. Remember, last week there was rare. Without that, it's really only Coffee and BW to wait around for.

 

I guess that's the benefit of Iowa....liquor is literally NOT sold maybe 5 hours of the day....ahhahahhaha...believe most places can open around 7am

Will the total wine stores likely have variants as well in the twin cities. I'm driving up from the barren beer wasteland of north iowa for the release. (Mock me if you like, but it's one of my favorites. Lol)
