Haven't tried any in the article, but I did try Wicked Weed's France, one of their World Cup Beers, last June. It was a 6% ABV saison brewed with French Aramis hops and Chanterelles from France. The mushrooms certainly added an earthy quality.

Upright has that white truffle gose that was pretty good. Truffles added a nice earthy flavor.

Angry Erik in Lafayette, NJ did a mushroom saison, that contained 5 mushroom varieties. They brought an earthiness I've not really tasted in beer. I enjoyed my pint, and if they did it as a seasonal, I might consider buying it every winter.

Look up Scratch Brewery I believe it's actually www.scratchbeer.com to save you the time. They are brewing with ingredients from their garden and from the Forrest they are in. Wild mushrooms, dead leaves, herbs, spices even brewing over wood fire. Very earthy beers!! I've yet to make it over there but it sounds interesting.

Not a big mushroom fan, but had Tired Hands Woodlahome yesterday at a tasting. The mushrooms added a nice earthy flavor to the Flanders Oud Bruin style. It was actual quite good.

I'd be game. I've already had beer with Copi Luwak, spicy peppers, bull testicles, and oysters...

Why not add mushrooms to the list.

Not sure mushroom flavor in beer really sounds good, but the oyster stouts seemed ok that I've tried. I'd be open to try it.

My buddy is making a beer out of the chanterelles we picked here in Western Washington. Bottles ready on Thursday!

I had a chance to get a bottle of JK Snorkel and passed based on the description. Later tried it at a bottle share and it way exceeded my expectations. Not my favorite beer, but I would seek it out again.

First time I saw this forum I couldn't even read it. I'm not that delicate but I just thought, nah. But then I had an experience of a dish of sauteed oyster mushrooms and morels in a stock with Chimay blue, in a Michelin-starred restaurant, and ... yes. Earth + beer = something mysteriously great. I'm intrigued, despite myself.

I have one that was brewed as a collaboration between Jester King and Dunham (I'm pretty sure they did two of them). At the moment it is just sitting in my fridge. I am always a little wary of new things especially ones that seem a little weird on the surface haha, but reading this made me more hopeful.

I'll have to try it tonight and see.

Label me intrigued. When I first read the title of the thread, I was thinking Dead shows with beer in hand, and mushrooms in hand (or head).:grinning:
But I love a variety of mushrooms, and I think a lot of the subtle, and some that are more rbust, flavors would be awesome in a few styles of beer.

Had a mushroom beer this year at the Oregon Brewers Festival that was really tasty. I'm not the biggest shroom fan but the balance of malt and shroom was perfect!

I didn't know what to think of Snorkel through my first bottle--is it a gose? Farmhouse? Rauchbier? After that, it grew on me quickly and is now one of my favorite beers. The oyster mushrooms (grown in Dripping Springs, not too far from JK) give it an earthy quality that is the last thing you taste instead of the sea salt, which is the case with some of the goses I have had.
