    I would say
    BCBS
    Stone Imperial Russian Stout
    Ten Fidy
    Dragon's Milk
Espresso Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout
    Founders Imperial Stout

Don't forgot imperial porters too! They are just as good just a little thinner mouthfeel. Is the only difference I can tell so far.

    Ten fidy
    Narwhal
    Victory at sea (Porter)
    4 beans (Porter)
    Bells 30th anniversary
    Evil twin Lil b
    Brooklyn black chocolate stout.

Just in case the OP doesn't think all stouts should be imperial and/or sweeter than candy, how about some regular old stouts...
Bell's special double cream stout, mad river steelhead extra stout, Sierra Nevada stout, obsidian from Deschuttes, and Anderson valley Barney flats oatmeal stout are some of my favorites that are widely distributed.

Not that the beers others have already recommended aren't great beers... I just don't like to see the non-imperials being overlooked.

Hill Farmstead - Beyond Good and Evil
    Cigar City - Hunahpu
Highland Park - Griffith J Griffith
Prairie - Bomb / Noir / Pirate Bomb
Goose Island - Bourbon County Rare
    Anchorage - Darkest Hour
    Sante Adairius - Poser Mobile
    Bells - 30th Anniversary
The Bruery - Chocolate Rain / Black Tuesday
AleSmith - Speedway w/ Vietnamese Coffee
    Firestone Walker - Parabola
    Epic - Big Bad Baptist

For a go-to that's relatively easy to find and quite cheap, Yeti is still very strong. Lagunitas IRS for budget drinking is not bad at all. For really budget stouts, Stockyard's Oatmeal stout at TD Joe's is actually pretty tasty, and an absolute bargain at 5.99 a six pack!

Courage Russian Stout. The proper one, not the one brewed by Charles Wells. Not just the best Stout, but the best beer ever brewed.

Look at the rankings in the stout style section. It gives you a broad sampling base to choose from and our collective opinions.

In addition to about everything listed above:

    AleSmith Speedway Stout
Great Divide Yeti (and the variants although the original is excellent)
Lagunitas Imperial Stout (also the Cappuccino version is very good fresh)
    Clown Shoes Blaecorn Unidragon
    Middle Ages DragonSlayer
    Goose Island The Muddy
    Captain Lawrence Frost Monster
    Ninkasi Imperiale
Clown Shoes Flight of the Angry Beast (1/3 American Stout, 1/3 RIS, 1/3 Barleywine blend, all barrel aged, but I thought it drank like a rich stout)

Great list already.... y'all are fast.
I'll add Samuel Smith Imperial Stout
    and...
    New Holland's the Poet (stout)

All of these are great, just depends on how much ABV, toast/roast, carbonation, choc/coffee balance, you actually like in a stout. Hard to go wrong, however, with what the fellow BAers have advocated for here. (Pun intended).

A lot of great beers already mentioned, I won't repeat any, I hope :-).

If you are close to MA, Clown Shoes Breakfast Exorcism was one of my favorite beers this year. Unfortunately it's a MA only release.

If you like Xocoveza and similarly flavored stouts, I popped a Boulevard Aztec Chocolate last night and was surprised how good it was.

Revolution's Deth's Tar is a great beer IMO. Gives BCBS a run for its money.

Fifty Fifty just released their Eclipse stouts. While they are pricey some of them are extremely good. I had an Elijah Craig with about a year of age on it and it was sublime.

EDIT: Someone above mentioned Evil Twin. Again, pricey, but Imperial Biscotti Break is pretty fantastic, the BA version even more so.

To me Barrel Aged Yeti is superb, and Oak Aged Yeti right behind.
    Big Bad Baptist
    Obsidian Stout
    Bittersweet from Left Hand
    BA TenFidy
    Grimm Double Negative
    Dragons Milk
The more adjunct loaded stouts I try, the more I appreciate the all-grain versions.

I have seen it mentioned once or twice, but I will emphasize Storm King. I liked the Yeti's also.

Not sure how you get thin mouthfeel, over carbonated, gushing bottles, tart sour cherry hits, and then say it's the coffee chosen that might be the culprit. I don't see it, it's so counter to any coffee I've ever had and they're always used that brand of coffee, if not slightly a different roast year to year. But it doesn't seem reasonable to think all the distress is merely a different roast of coffee.

We need to talk then. That is my second favorite beer of all time. I was under the impression it wouldn't be coming back this year.

Great suggestions above, but a BBA stout that is totally underrated and more available would be Drägo by Wild Onion Brewing.
