Hey all! I am doing a michigan brewery trip with my buddies and wanted some ideas on what are must visit breweries. We will be going all over but our base of operations will be from Grand Rapids. Any ideas are welcome! Cheers
Good start. I will add Brewery Vivant, I feel they have been putting out better beer than anyone in Grand Rapids as of late.
I am going to throw Bastone in there too. My fave's are Short's, Bastone, Jolly Pumpkin, Brewery Viviant, Kuhnhenn.
Well all over means You should checkout Black Rocks, Ore Dock, brickside, and stop in at the Fitzgerald in Eagle river.
Ill second odd side ales, also when your at founders walk down a few streets to hopcats bar, voted the best beerpub in the us by ratebeer.
I'll echo every brewery listed above and add Arbor, Arcadia, Big Buck, Cranker's, Corner (same beers as Arbor), Dragonmead, Filling Station, Frankenmuth, Grizzly Peak, Hideout, Jamesport, New Holland, North Peak, Rochester Mills, and Walldorff. These are all places with better-than-average beers and food. As an additional note - the Jolly Pumpkin recommendations above can be either the one in Ann Arbor or the one on Old Mission Peninsula near Traverse City. (Or both, they're both great places. Just don't go to the one in Dexter; it's a production-only brewery.)
