Hey guys, Heading down to Dallas area next Friday thru Sunday for the Cotton Bowl. Hoping to check out some spots in and around town on Friday. Let me know if you have any suggestions! Thanks!

Without knowing the styles you like, in Dallas, I'd hit Peticolas, Lakewood, and Deep Ellum. I'd also highly advise you make effort to get to the mid-cities between Dallas and Fort Worth and hit Turning Point. Also in Fort Worth; Martin House and The Collective are excellent.

I'll probably get thrashed for not advising Community in Dallas - widely regarded as a good brewery, just not for me. The above brewing are a very small list of what is in the DFW area, it just depends on the type of beer you like, atmosphere and ability to move around the metroplex.

Definitely hit Braindead...always a TON of really good beers (great variety of styles) on tap and you can get a good lunch.

Lakewood is a favorite NTX brewery of mine, it's in Garland and may be too far away for you.

If you like German styles - I just discovered Bankhead in Rowlett, was surprisingly good (Pilsner, Helles, Bock, etc...) - more of a brewpub style where you can also have a good lunch.

So I know it's late for the OPs trip. But I just went to Pegasus City Brewery with my family. I have to say that is my current favorite brewery in the DFW area.
And it's right in the same area as Peticolas and Community.

The wife and I have been loving buying their Highpoint English ale and Sixth Floor porter and Texicaner dark lager.

They don't make IPAs but I think they do the best sessionable malty beers.

We also went back to Braindead Brewing. I don't see any reason to drink anything other than their Automatic Standard pilsner because it's so good.

Haha! Thanks! Whichever Pils we have on is what my brewers and I drink the most of by a sizeable margin.
