I am visiting Cape Cod this week and I am wondering if there are any places of renown on the Cape. Looking for good bottle shops or breweries. Thank you for any suggestions.
Follow the link Ed posted, you need to be aware of travel time during the day on the Cape. Getting from one end to the other is not as easy as you might think. Where are you staying?
+1 (from @EDNOSE 's link) on Devil's Purse. If not the brewery itself, then at your local watering hole. They look to have decent distro for a new brewery.
This isn't brewery/bottle shops, but Flynn's Pub right in front of the Sagamore Bridge is a decent place to grab a pint or two. They have some awesome beers on tap, they had Lunch and Be Hoppy on tap as of last week as well as about 40 or so other taps. Lagunitas, Coronado, Troeg's, Mayflower, Brooklyn to name a few.
Cape Cod Beer makes DECENT beer, and it's a great little brewery to visit. Super cheap growlers and lots of fun trinkets and souvenirs in the shop. They also have a cool little beer garden / food truck setup. To make things even better, the best bottle shop on Cape Cod is 2 miles down the road .... Moonshine Liquors. Great craft beer selection. You may even find so e Night Shift if you're lucky
I'm down on the cape right now -- truro -- and have loved the options (mostly Cisco and Cape Cod). Just because you're not getting "super dank/juicy/chewy and double hopped" IPA's doesn't mean there aren't good options. You won't get shit ranked in the top 100, but you'll get solid summer lagers and ales. We promise we won't strip you of craft beer street cred if we catch you drinking a blonde ale on the beach. Just drink and enjoy the sun.
If you go all the way down to Provincetown you can get top shelf selections http://www.thenoreastbeergarden.com
Devil's Purse beers were a mixed bag, but good overall. Stopped into the brewery on the 4th (kind of a shitshow) and did the sampler. Mandarina was reminiscent of Night Shift Whirlpool in that it was dominated by en vogue hops up front, but finished very weak. But to be expected for the ABV. The IPA was solid, on par with a Mayflower IPA or something of that ilk. The Pale Ale wasn't great, bitter in an unpleasant way, like the bitterness you get from overroasted coffee (not an actual coffee flavor, but that's the first that came to mind). The ESB was fine and the Kolsch was sweeter than I like for the style, but fine overall. Had pints of the ESB and Kolsch at the Red Nun and Del Mar in Chatham. Del Mar is a solid spot for dinner and drinks. The Red Nun is worth a stop pre/post a ballgame, but it's not my favorite bar in town. For a hidden gem, hit the bar at the Impudent Oyster in Chatham. They've had Naukabout's White Cap IPA every time I've stopped in, which is a damn tasty beer.
